Image: Tyson Fury denies making twitter comment about gays; Mundine vows to beat GealeBy Allan Fox: Tyson Fury (19-0, 14 KO’s) is once again taking heat for some things that showed up on his twitter page. This one in particular was reportedly reference to him supposedly wanting gays to be shot dead, according to the Guardian.co.uk. Fury is denying that he made that comment.

Fury said to the Guardian.co.uk “I give my phone to my cousins at the [training] camp…they were laughing about calling some people some names..When I found out what they had done I was furious. I said: ‘Listen, it’s not a funny subject this.’…I’ve got friends of my own who are gay.”

IBF gives permission to Geale to fight Mundine

Image: IBF gives permission to Geale to fight MundineBy Dan Ambrose: The International Boxing Federation has given IBF/WBA middleweight champion Daniel Geale (28-1, 15 KO’s) to bypass his mandatory challenger #1 IBF Sam Soliman to fight a rematch against 37-year-old #9 IBF Anthony Mundine (44-4, 26 KO’s) next. Mundine has already beaten Geale three years ago by a 12 round split decision in 2009.

Both fighters are Australian, so it means a lot of money for both. There’s talk of the Geale-Mundine fight being televised on pay per view, which obviously would take place in Australia and not the U.S because it wouldn’t sell in America.

Golovkin waiting to see whether Geale will fight him or give up his WBA strap

Image: Golovkin waiting to see whether Geale will fight him or give up his WBA strapBy Dan Ambrose: The World Boxing Association has already ordered a fight between WBA Super World middleweight champion Daniel Geale (28-1, 15 KO’s) and the WBA World middleweight champion Gennady Golovkin (24-0, 21 KO’s) for a bout that has to take place before the end of the year or Geale will be stripped of his title.

Golovkin’s trainer Abel Sanchez sees Geale just letting the WBA stripping him of the title, and then focusing on defending his IBF middleweight title against his mandatory challenger 38-year-old Sam Soliman in what should be a much easier fight for Geale compared to facing the hard hitting Golovkin.

Geale’s promoter hoping to get Chavez Jr-Martinez winner

Image: Geale's promoter hoping to get Chavez Jr-Martinez winnerBy Allan Fox: Gary Shaw, the promoter for IBF/WBA middleweight champion Daniel Geale (28-1, 15 KO’s), is hoping he can line Geale up with the winner of the September 15th clash between WBC middleweight champion Julio Cesar Chavez Jr. and Sergio Martinez.

Shaw said “I plan to have Daniel sitting ringside for the Martinez vs. Chavez Jr. fight in Las Vegas and then sit down with HBO to discuss options.”

Geale is an Australian fighter and he’s not ever fought in the United States before. I’m not sure if HBO would be excited about putting on a show between Geale and the winner of the Chavez Jr-Martinez fight. Geale doesn’t have have much power, and it might not be as interesting for HBO than it would be if the hard hitting Golovkin were to fight the winner of the Chavez Jr-Martinez fight.

Image: Sturm expected to vacate WBA title if he beats Geale tonightBy Jason Kim: In a move that surely won’t be a popular one if he does it, WBA Super World middleweight champion Felix Sturm (37-2-2, 16 KO’s) is expected to immediately vacate his World Boxing Association 160 pound title if he defeats IBF middleweight champion Daniel Geale (27-1, 15 KO’s) tonight in their fight in Germany.

German news site bild.de is reporting that the 33-year-old Sturm will be giving up his WBA title in order to keep the IBF belt. By doing this, Sturm will be able to avoid a much tougher fight against the winner of tonight’s fight between WBA World middleweight champion Gennady Golovkin and Grzegorz Proksa.
