This will be only Klitschko’s third bout since coming off a four-year retirement last year in October with a 8th round stoppage over then WBC heavyweight champion Samuel Peter.

Maskaev, now 40, lost his title to Samuel Peter in a 6th round stoppage last year in March, losing his WBC title in the process. Maskaev had been hoping to get a fight with WBC champion Vitali Klitschko, but that fell apart when Klitschko went to court so that he wouldn’t have to fight Maskaev, who the WBC slated as Klitschko’s mandatory challenger.

Just this week Froch made the bold prediction that former cruiserweight champion David Haye has a great chance of beating both of the Klitschko brothers. Now, Froch is predicting that lightweight Amir Khan will beat World Boxing Association light welterweight champion Andriy Kotelnik in their July 18th bout at the M.E.N. Arena, in Manchester. “If Khan can keep himself out of harm’s way and display usual work rate, he should nick a points decisions,” Froch said to The Sun.
