Clottey vs. Quintana Off; Arreola vs. Tua in December? – News

arreola34226By Dave Lahr: One bit a bad news that hasn’t received a lot of attention with the Kelly Pavlik vs. Paul Williams bout being canceled for December 5th is that the welterweight clash between former International Boxing Federation welterweight champion Joshua Clottey (35-3, 20 KO’s) and former WBO welterweight champion Carlos Quintana (26-2, 20 KO’s) has been called off as well.

David Haye: Why he is better than Arreola and the other contenders

haye5634439By Aykan Tahir: When David Haye lost to Carl Thompson he was 23 years old, who as a 23 year old didn’t make a mistake? Haye landed some great shots on Thompson and saw an opening and expended all his energy going for an immediate knockout. He ended up punching himself out and leaving himself open as a result which resulted in his one and only loss. What makes the true champions, not only in this sport but in all sports, is bouncing back from a loss and Haye done this in great style.

What Next for Arreola?

arreola4535623By Dave Lahr: Heavyweight contender Chris Arreola (27-1, 24 KO’s) gave it his all last Saturday night against WBC heavyweight champion Vitali Klitschko but in the end, Arreola didn’t have the size or the talent to beat the big 6’8” Klitschko brother. All is not lost, however, because Arreola showed a lot of heart in losing and seemed to win of fans as well in losing the fight.

Arreola: “He [Klitschko] Beat My A–“

arreola34223By Sean McDaniel: At the post fight press conference, WBC heavyweight champion Vitali Klitschko and challenger Chris Arreola sounded off paying there respects to one another and giving descriptions of what it was like for them to go at for 10 rounds. Arreola, 28, had this to say about his 10th round TKO loss to Klitschko: “Plain and simple, he [Klitschko] beat my a–. Whatever it was, that’s his style. It works for him. He knows how to use his distance. He pulls back and counters with it.”

Klitschko Stops Arreola, Few Boxing Fans Care

vit45343Photo: Pavel Terekhov – By Chris Williams: It’s frankly astonishing to compare the huge amount of hoopla made out of Floyd Mayweather Jr’s 12 round shellacking of lightweight Juan Manuel Marquez compared to the seemingly little fanfare that has been made of World Boxing Council heavyweight champion Vitali Klitschko’s 10th round stoppage win over Chris Arreola on Saturday night. It’s like night and day. The Mayweather fight received the red carpet treatment by HBO, who advertised the bout like mad and put on an HBO 24/7 series.

How Would Haye Have Done Against Vitali?

vit4543Photo: Pavel Terekhov – By Scott Gilfoid: Okay, we’ve seen how Chris Arreola did against WBC heavyweight champion Vitali Klitschko – getting stopped in the 10th in a one-sided fight from start to finish. How would British heavyweight David Haye have done against Vitali if it had been him in there with the big 6’8” giant rather than Arreola. Would there have been any improvement or would Haye have been knocked out much quicker? Perhaps there are a few people who think Haye could have actually beaten Klitschko with speed and power.

Vitali Doesn’t Appear to Punch as Hard as Wladimir

wladimir3339Photo: Pavel Terekhov – By Jason Kim: Although this is just my personal opinion based on my observation from Saturday night’s bout, I think Vitali Klitschko doesn’t punches as hard as his younger brother Wladimir Klitschko. I’m obviously not the first person that’s noticed this, because quite a few people have said the same thing. However, for me it wasn’t really clear until I watched Saturday night’s bout between Vitali and Chris Arreola.

Can Anyone Beat Vitali Klitschko?

klitschko34322By Scott Gilfoid: After watching World Boxing Council heavyweight champion Vitali Klitschko put on a masterful display last night in defeating his number #1 challenger Chris Arreola in a 10th round stoppage, I have to wonder if there’s any fighter out there, besides his brother IBF/WBO heavyweight champion Wladimir Klitschko, who can beat Vitali? Klitschko may be getting up there in age at 38, but the way he looked last night, he might as well be 28 because he looked like he was out of this world in terms of talent.

Heavyweight Boxing: We Need a Spark

arreola34342Photo: Pavel Terekhov – By Dennis Broadhurst: With the heavyweight division dying under the boring Klitschko brothers and the pathetic excuse for a boxer Nikolay Valuev we are looking for a spark. The days of young heavyweight contenders at age 21 or 22 are over as are the days of wars such as “The Thrilla in Manila” and “The Rumble in the Jungle”. We are stuck with boring heavyweights like the Klitschko brothers or ones of no skill such as Nikolay Valuev.
