By Jim Dower: Former light heavyweight champion Antonio Tarver will be moving up in weight to the heavyweight division on October 15th to take on Nagy Aguilera on Friday, Oct. 15, at Buffalo Run Casino in Miami, Oklahoma. Although Tarver isn’t facing a dangerous opponent in Aguilera, the fight will still be shown on Showtime, where Tarver works as one of the television analysts. Tarver, 41, is moving up to the heavyweight division to try and win a world title against one of the Klitschko brothers.

Wladimir Klitschko vs. Antonio Tarver in 2011?
By Matt Stein: Believe it or not, IBF/WBO heavyweight champion Wladimir Klitschko (55-3, 49 KO’s) could be facing 42-year-old Antonio Tarver (27-6, 19 KO’s) of all fighters in 2011, according to Chris Mannix of Sports Illustrated. Mannix says “One name Klitschko went out of his way to mention as a possible opponent next year is Antonio Tarver.” This sounds like a nice little mismatch for Klitschko and another opportunity for him to milk his title.

By Jim Dower: Former light heavyweight champion Antonio Tarver (27-6, 19 KO’s) will be fighting for the first time at heavyweight against the hard hitting 24-year-old Nagy Aguilera (16-4, 11 KO’s) on October 15th on Showtime.
41-year-old Antonio Tarver could be making his heavyweight debut on October 15th
By Eric Thomas: Former IBF/WBA/WBC light heavyweight champion Antonio Tarver (27-6, 19 KO’s) could be making his heavyweight debut on October 15th on Showtime, according to Dan Rafael of ESPN. This isn’t the kind of boxing news that will make some fans happy, though, because Tarver is 41 now, and has lost three out of his last six fights, including his last two to Chad Dawson. At only 6’2″, Tarver doesn’t appear to have the kind of frame that would allow him to move up in weight and compete with the huge 240+ pound Klitschko brothers or even the faster WBA heavyweight champion David Haye.
Tarver moving up to heavyweight, wants Haye and the Klitschkos
By William Mackay: Former IBF/WBA/WBC light heavyweight champion Antonio Tarver (27-6, 19 KO’s) announced last Saturday night that he plans on moving up from the light heavyweight division and skipping the cruiserweight division entirely in going after WBA heavyweight champion David Haye, WBC champion Vitali Klitschko and IBF/WBO heavyweight champion Wladimir Klitschko in the heavyweight division. For Tarver, now 41, this is a risky move that has little chance of success.
Toney talks Tarver, Arreola, Hopkins and Kevin Johnson
By Eric Thomas: In an interview with Boxing Talk, 41-year-old James Toney (72-6-3, 44 KO’s) mentioned that he’s interested in fighting Antonio Taver after finding out that Tarver himself is interested in fighting him. When told that Tarver wanted to fight him, Toney said in an interview with Greg Leon, “Really? We can do this.” Toney then off the beaten track and started talking about the Klitschko brothers, David Haye, and Chris Arreola.
Why Isn’t Roy Jones Jr. Trying to Fight Tarver or Johnson?
By Chris Williams: Okay, Roy Jones Jr. (54-5, 40 KO’s) looked good last Saturday night in beating up a shot Jeff Lacy and stopping him in the 10th round, but let’s not get carried away here. This was Lacy, who hasn’t been the same fighter he was back before losing to Joe Calzaghe and suffering a shoulder injury in his fight against Vitali Tsypko.
Does Dawson Lack the Killer Instinct?
By Jason Kim: IBF light heavyweight champion Chad Dawson did enough to get another win over Antonio Tarver on Saturday night, but in beating Tarver by a 12-round unanimous decision, Dawson seemed to show the hallmarks of a fighter that lacks the killer instinct to seek out and destroy his aged opponent.
Dawson Beats Tarver: The Fight Wasn’t Close
By Chris Williams: International Boxing Federation light heavyweight champion Chad Dawson (28-0, 17 KOs) defeated Antonio Tarver (26-6, 19 KOs) by a 12-round unanimous decision on Saturday night, beating the 40-year-old Tarver about as bad as he did last time out. Tarver tried to make a fight of it this time, coming at Dawson, firing off a lot of punches, but the fight looked mostly like the first fight last year in October, which concluded with Dawson winning by a lopsided 12-round decision.
