Will Khan be rushed into a fight with Mayweather Jr. next year?

By William Mackay: Golden Boy Promotions CEO Richard Schaefer is eager to make WBA light welterweight champion Amir Khan (23-1, 17 KO’s) their next pay per view star. The idea he had was for Khan to take on and beat World Boxing Association light welterweight interim champion Marcos Maidana (29-1, 27 KO’s) in December, and then fight and beat the winner of the light welterweight clash between champions Timothy Bradley and Devon Alexander.

Khan vs. Maidana: Is Marcos going to expose Amir’s glass jaw?

Image: Khan vs. Maidana: Is Marcos going to expose Amir's glass jaw?By William Mackay: It’s been two good years since Amir Khan (23-1, 17 KO’s) was last viciously knocked out by Breidis Prescott in September 2008. Khan has now won his last bouts since then, albeit against weak punchers all of them. On December 11th, Khan will be facing WBA light welterweight interim champion Marcos Maidana (29-1, 27 KO’s), a fighter that appears to punch even harder than Prescott. Khan’s fans and some boxing experts feel that Khan will be able to avoid getting hit at all for 12 rounds by moving around on the outside and using his jab. On December 11th, at the Mandalay Bay Resort and Casino, in Las Vegas, Nevada, Maidana will be getting a big chance to prove whether Khan is for real or not.

Amir Khan – How long before he eats his way out of the light welterweight division?

Image: Amir Khan – How long before he eats his way out of the light welterweight division?By Scott Gilfoid: I don’t know if you’ve ever had a chance to read any of Amir Khan’s twitter comments, but I check out all the time. The one thing that I’ve noticed with this dude is that he’s always talking about food. Seriously, Khan is either talking about just having eaten some food or is about to go out and eat some food at a restaurant. I’m a pretty slim and food has never been a focus of my life, but I’ve had friends that would talk about food in the same way that Khan has, and these guys are all fat.

Image: Khan: "Maidana looks pudgy to me"By Sean McDaniel: WBA light welterweight champion Amir Khan (23-1, 17 KO’s) came away from his London presc conference meeting with World Boxing Association light welterweight interim champion Marcos Maidana (29-1, 27 KO’s) that the Argentinian was looking kind of overweight, saying “Maidana looks pudgy to me.” Johny Nelson, the analyst for Sky Sports, said “Maidana is made for him” [Khan]. Maidana did look a little heavy at the press conference, but nothing that can’t be taken off through three long months of training. Maidana says he’s not even going to worry about winning by a decision, because he intends on knocking Khan out.

Image: Amir Khan: Putting it all on the line against Maidanaby Arfan Ali: Amir Khan’s career seemed to be in ruins two years ago after the brutal knockout he received by the powerful hard hitting Breidis Prescott. Image: Khan says he’s going to “Unify the light welterweight titles” after the Maidana fightBy William Mackay: WBA light welterweight champion Amir Khan (23-1, 17 KO’s) has sprouted some big ideas about his future in the light welterweight division, because he’s already talking about unifying the light welterweight titles, when he hasn’t even beaten his next opponent WBA light welterweight interim champion Marcos Maidana (29-1, 27 KO’s) yet. Khan, 23, faces the knockout artist Maidana on December 11th at the MGM Grand, in Las Vegas, Nevada. In an article at thesun.co.uk, Khan says “I am taking a big risk with this fight [Maidana] but I am going to grab the opportunity with both hands and unify the light welterweight titles.” I’d like to see that happen, but frankly I tend to see Khan getting blasted out in two or three rounds by Maidana on 12/11.
