By William Mackay: Golden Boy Promotions CEO Richard Schaefer made it clear at a London press conference that his fighter WBA Super World light welterweight champion Amir Khan (26-1, 18 KO’s) is going after the winner of the September 17th fight between Erik Morales and Lucas Matthysse for a bout would be taking place in December. Following that fight, Khan will be fighting in early 2012 against a possible ex-world champion from the welterweight division (read: 39-year-old Shane Mosley), followed by a December fight against Floyd Mayweather Jr.

Khan: Maidana will beat Guerrero; there’s no interest in fighting him again
By William Mackay: Amir Khan is picking WBA light welterweight champion Marcos Maidana (30-2, 27 KO’s) to better challenger Robert Guerrero (29-1-1, 18 KO’s) in their fight on August 27th of this month in San Jose, California. Khan’s pick of Guerrero goes against what many boxing experts are saying about Guerrero being too skilled for Maidana. He’s the superior fighter in terms of boxing skills compared to Maidana, who lives and dies by his knockouts.

Khan: I want the Morales-Matthysse winner
By William Mackay: I recently made a minor prediction that International Boxing Federation (IBF)/World Boxing Association (WBA) Super World light welterweight champion Amir Khan (26-1, 18 KO’s) would target the winner of the September 17th clash between 35-year-old Erik Morales (51-7, 35 KO’s) and Lucas Matthysse (28-2, 26 KO’s) rather than the arguably much more dangerous prospects of fighting the winner of the August 27th fight between Robert Guerrero and Marcos Maidana as well as the September 10th fight between Khan conqueror Breidis Prescott and Paul McCloskey.
Matthew Hatton dreaming of a Khan fight at welterweight
By Sean McDaniel: Welterweight contender Matthew Hatton (41-5-2, 16 KO’s) is hoping he meets up with Amir Khan when he moves up to the welterweight division in the future and Hatton is one of the champions. It sounds like a pipe dream on Hatton’s part, because he’s not a champion at this time and would have to knocked off someone like World Boxing Association (WBA) welterweight champ Vyacheslav Senchenko to pick up a title for a Khan-Hatton fight to take place.
Sky to stop showing PPV boxing bouts; fights will continue to be shown on regular Sky moving forward
By William Mackay: In the big news that will mainly affect British fighters looking to get a payday, Sky Sports announced recently that they’ll no longer be putting on Sky Boxing Office pay per view boxing bouts on their Sky Sports channel. Sky hasn’t abandoned boxing, as they’ll continue to show boxing on regular Sky Sports channel.
Khan left with some ugly/dangerous choices for his last fight at 140 lbs
Khan: All I can do is beat the person they put in front of me
By William Mackay: If you’ve been reading some of WBA Super World light welterweight champion Amir Khan’s juicy quotes, you’ll have noticed that he likes to say this: “There’s not much I can do apart from beating the person they put in front of me.” In using the word “They”, Khan presumably is speaking about his promoters from Golden Boy Promotions.
Prescott wants Khan after he destroys McCloskey on September 10th
By Scott Gilfoid: Colombian Breidis Prescott (24-2, 19 KO’s) will be looking to go after some big game after he destroys Paul McCloskey (22-1, 12 KO’s) on September 10th in a WBA light welterweight title eliminator bout at the Odyssey Arena in Belfast, Northern Ireland.
Maidana: Khan begged the WBA not to fight me again for 18 months
By William Mackay: It seems that WBA light welterweight champion Amir Khan (26-1, 18 KO’s) hasn’t exactly been eager to get back in the ring with Marcos Maidana (30-2, 27 KO’s) after taking a savage beating from Maidana in close win over him last December. Khan was out on his feet in the last three rounds and took one-way traffic while having Maidana peeled off of him again and again by referee Joe Cortez while Khan was taking a lot of shots.
