By Scott Gilfoid: Floyd Mayweather Jr. might want to have second thoughts about fighting Amir Khan (28-3, 19 KO’s) on May 3rd, because Khan is bragging about having sparred with Andre Ward and Alfredo Angulo and taken their best shots without dropping for the 10 count on the canvas. I haven’t heard Ward’s account of the sparring sessions with Khan, but I’d be interested to see what actually occurred during them, if they actually did take place.
Here’s Khan on his facebook this week describing how he stood up to Ward and Angulo’s power “Another example Angulo and Ward have hit me with big shots and I’ve stood in front and not gone down. They carry 25 lbs over me and are big punchers. This is because I’m at my natural weight. It’s in the fans hands who they want to see me fight.”
By Hector Gonzalez: Let’s keep it real, most boxing fans don’t have a clue of what they are talking about when it comes to the sweet science. It’s not their fault really, it’s pretty simple. Most kids all over the world played various different kinds of sports, basketball, soccer, baseball….. But very few, and I mean very few have actually ever laced up the gloves. There are too many assumptions going around so I wanted to dedicate this article to the fans specially on BN24.
By Dan Ambrose: Golden Boy Promotions CEO Richard Schaefer is reporting high ticket sales for the March 8th bout between former WBA/WBC light middleweight champion Saul “Canelo” Alvarez (42-1-1-, 30 KO’s) and fringe contender Alfredo Angulo (22-3, 18 KO’s) in their fight pay-per-view bout on Showtime from the MGM Grand in Las Vegas, Nevada. 6,000 tickets were sold on the first day alone, says Schaefer via Dan Rafael.
By Sevak Sarkisian: Not too long ago, it was announced that Jr. Middleweight contender Saul āCaneloā Alvarez (42-1-1 30KOās) will be making his return to the ring on March 8th against Alfredo Angulo (22-3 18KOās). Initially when I heard the news I was somewhat disappointed because I felt like Golden Boy took the easy rout avoiding a fight with Carlos Molina for the IBF strap. However, when I started to think about the fight I realized that stylistically Angulo presents a tuff Match-up for Alvarez.
By Dan Ambrose: There’s been a change to the Saul “Canelo” Alvarez vs. Alfredo Angulo undercard on Showtime pay-per-view on March 8th. The Jorge Linares vs. Nihito Arakawa fight won’t be on the PPV portion of the broadcast, according to Dan Rafael.
By Dan Ambrose: Golden Boy Promotions has stacked the Saul “Canelo” Alvarez vs. Alfredo Angulo undercard with smaller fighters for their March 8th pay-per-view bout on Showtime from the MGM Grand in Las Vegas, Nevada. This is a risky thing for Golden Boy CEO Richard Schaefer to do in putting little super featherweights and lightweights as Canelo’s chief support on the card, because the Canelo vs. Angulo fight is a mismatch and it likely will be about as entertaining as Canelo’s fight with Josesito Lopez.
