By John F. McKenna (McJack): The camp of Russian (regular) World Boxing Association (WBA) heavyweight champion Alexander Povetkin (22-0, 15 KO’s) is accusing British and Commonwealth heavyweight champion Tyson Fury (16-0, 11 KO’s) of ducking the new champion. Kalle Sauerland, Povetkin’s promoter, claims that Fury had the opportunity to contend for Povetkin’s crown on December 3 but turned down the offer.
Fury wants Povetkin-Boswell winner
By William Mackay: Despite having fought mostly 3rd tier opposition during his brief three year pro career, British and Commonwealth heavyweight champion Tyson Fury (16-0, 11 KO’s) feels he’s ready to take on the winner of the December 3rd fight between WBA heavyweight champion Alexander Povetkin and his 42-year-old challenger Cedric Boswell. That fight will no doubt be won by the undefeated Povetkin, but that’s not saying a whole lot.
Povetkin will defend title against Boswell

38-year-old Rahman a strong possibility for Povetkin’s next fight
38-year-old Hasim Rahman will likely fight Povetkin for the title in 2012
By Jason Kim: Former heavyweight champion Hasim Rahman (50-7-2, 41 KO’s) is poised to get a crack at WBA heavyweight champion Alexander Povetkin in 2012 as long as the 38-year-old Rahman doesn’t get beat before then.
The World Boxing Association has given Rahman a number #1 ranking in the division. This puts Rahman in a great position to fight for a title in 2012 against the likely December fight between Povetkin and 48-year-old Evander Holyfield. It’ll likely be Povetkin that emerges the winner of that fight unless he falls apart completely.
Wladimir Klitschko not interested in fighting Alexander Povetkin
By Allen Fox: It was thought that after Russian heavyweight Alexander Povetkin (22-0, 15 KO’s) defeated Ruslan Chagaev (27-2, 17 KO’s) to capture the vacant WBA regular heavyweight title last Saturday night that IBF/WBA/WBO heavyweight Wladimir Klitschko (56-3, 49 KO’s) would take on Povetkin for a fight that would take place in Germany.
Povetkin vs. 49-year-old Holyfield on December 17th in Zurich, Switzerland – Rumor mill
By Dan Ambrose: It looks like new WBA heavyweight champion Alexander Povetkin (22-0, 15 KO’s) won’t be taking any chances by fighting a dangerous opponent for his title defense. According to the latest boxing news rumors from the Bild, the 31-year-old Povetkin will be fighting former heavyweight champion Evander Holyfield (44-10-2, 29 KO’s) on December 17th in Zurich, Switzerland. Holyfield is like a fossil at this point. He’s far too old to win.
