Roach has no problem with Cotto vs GGG fight

golovkin7356By T.B: According to ESPN’s Dan Rafael Hall of fame trainer Freddie Roach has no problem with a Miguel Cotto vs Gennady “GGG” Golovkin fight. This coming on the heels of GGG’s “calling out” of Cotto after his KO win over game but completely out classed Daniel Geale.

Roach was in NY with his fighter Glen Tapia for an undercard bout which ended up getting canceled. Instead of packing up and heading home Roach turned the trip into a “scouting” trip.

Roach was in the crowd at Madison Square Garden and came away impressed but not so impressed that he was scared off a possible Cotto vs GGG fight in the future. Roach said a GGG fight is second on his list behind a proposed super fight with Canelo Alvarez which would take place on Cinco De Mayo weekend 2015. When asked Roach said,” I like the Canelo fight better, but I like a fight with GGG second”. I’m assuming By second Roach means as an alternative to Canelo if negotiations fall through, or second as in after the Canelo fight.

Can Mayweather-Maidana II succeed without Canelo’s help to boost the PPV numbers?

floyd888By T.B: It’s no secret that Floyd Mayweather Jr is the pay-per-view king when it comes to boxing. Floyd has set the bar so high when it comes to PPV that anything under 1 million buys is considered a bomb in Floyd’s eyes.

As of today 2 of 3 fights which Floyd has fought under his contract with Showtime have not hit the mystical bench mark of 1 million buys.

I know this is where some of you will argue that both the Robert Guerrero fight and the first Marcos Maidana fight both did 1 million buys. Stop it and let it go. They didn’t. Showtime has yet to release an “official number for the Mayweather-Guerrero fight much less the first Mayweather-Maidana fight and that only means one thing: they were both under a million buys.

If you remember the Canelo fight PPV numbers came out the following Tuesday. So as the saying goes.” The longer it takes the worse it is”. Sure Stephen Espinoza has said he’s confident that the Mayweather-Maidana fight reached 1 million buys, great, but what about an official number. So for the sake of argument let’s use the truth and move on.

Father Time knocking on Floyd’s door?

may023By T.B: You may have missed him but Father Time [FT] was sitting ring side at the May 3rd fight between Floyd Mayweather Jr. (46-0, 26 KO’s) and Marcos Maidana (35-4, 31 KO’s) at the MGM Grand in Las Vegas, Nevada and I bet you can guess who he was there to see. They say Father Time comes to visit everyone at some point in our lives and he mostly shows up when we least expect him. Floyd Mayweather Jr got his first visit from FT right around the time Showtime’s “All Access” started documenting his every move for his up coming Maidana fight.

The fans who did tune into All Access witnessed the same tired act they saw on both the Saul “Canelo” Alvarez and Robert Guerrero All Access episodes. Fans got to see Floyd’s houses, cars, woman, and friends, all of which has been shown over and over year after year.

Mayweather’s “plan for success” nearly backfires against Maidana

1-06Over the past 10 years or so Floyd Mayweather Jr (46-0, 26 KO’s)has followed a basic “plan for success”. This plan is made up of  4 easy steps and if followed he will surly get the win he so desperately wants.

Step one is to find a fighter who is coming off the best victory of his career. But, this can’t be any ordinary fighter, no this fighter must also be of Mexican descent. To put it in even simpler terms this fighter just needs a Spanish last name. (Robert Guerrero, Saul “Canelo” Alvarez, Miguel Cotto, Marcos Maidana ….you get the picture).
