Floyd Schofield Camp Threatens Cancellation Over Bahdi Weight

By Boxing News 24 Desk - 10/09/2026 - Comments

Floyd Schofield’s father is threatening to pull Saturday’s fight against Lucas Bahdi if the Canadian exceeds 146 pounds at the second-day weight check, according to Chris Mannix. Bahdi’s team disputes his account of the negotiations and insists its fighter will come in at 145 or below.

The disagreement emerged Friday night ahead of their vacant WBA lightweight title fight in Chicago. Mannix reports that Illinois requires fighters in championship bouts to come in within ten pounds of the contract weight at a second-day check. For a fight contracted at 135 pounds, that means a 145-pound limit.

Floyd Sr. claims Bahdi’s side tried to negotiate a 15-pound allowance, which would permit him to reach 150 pounds. He also alleges they offered an additional $250,000 for each extra pound Bahdi was allowed.

According to Floyd Sr., Schofield’s camp agreed to 146 pounds but would refuse to proceed if Bahdi came in any heavier.

A representative from Bahdi’s side called Schofield’s version “total bullshit” and told Mannix that Bahdi would come in at 145 pounds or less.

That leaves two different accounts of what happened behind the scenes. The alleged financial offer comes from Floyd Sr., and Bahdi’s representative denies his version. It cannot be treated as an accepted account of the negotiations.

There is also an unanswered question about the 146-pound allowance. That figure exceeds the Illinois limit Mannix describes by one pound. His report does not establish whether the commission approved an exception or whether Floyd Sr. was describing only an agreement between the camps.

For Schofield, the concern is how much weight Bahdi can regain before they enter the ring. His father has now attached a cancellation threat to that concern, putting additional pressure on Saturday’s check.

Bahdi’s side has given itself a clear number to meet. If he comes in at 145 pounds or below, he would satisfy both the reported state limit and Schofield Sr.’s stated demand. Anything above 146 would test whether Schofield’s camp follows through on its threat.
