In the Golden Boy and Most Valuable Promotions (MVP) cross-promoted main event, a new champion will be crowned as Floyd Schofield will face Lucas Bahdi on Saturday night, October 10th, at the Wintrust Arena in Chicago, live on DAZN.
This matchup features two undefeated fighters who are both determined, hungry, and ready to take their careers to the next level. The winner of this highly anticipated lightweight fight will be awarded the vacant WBA world title.
Since signing with Golden Boy Promotions in August 2022, Floyd Schofield has made the transition from prospect to contender. In his most recent outing, a definitive statement was made as he stopped Tevin Farmer in the first round.
His October 10th opponent, Lucas Bahdi, didn’t have the luxury of being guided by a well-known promotional company. Bahdi was winning consistently, as he achieved most of his success under the radar.
Two years ago, Bahdi introduced himself to the mainstream when he knocked Ashton Sylve out cold in the sixth round. Now in a high-stakes matchup, Lucas “Prince” Bahdi (20-0, 15 KOs) is set to battle Floyd “Kid Austin” Schofield (19-0, 13 KOs).
Lucas Bahdi is a very patient fighter who is accurate, good at controlling range, has good timing, and has a powerful right hand. The fear for Bahdi is due to his economical punch output; he can get outworked and fall behind on the scorecards.
Floyd Schofield is athletic, has a solid jab, fast hands, throws a variety of combinations, and is a strong puncher. Schofield is a fast starter, but the question for Schofield is: can he sustain his energetic pace during the later rounds?
Now promoted by MVP, the Ontario, Canada native Lucas Bahdi knows a win on Saturday night will take his career to another level. Bahdi plans on representing and taking full advantage of the opportunity.
“I’m very proud to be Canadian. I wear that flag on my back when I enter the ring,” Bahdi said.”That was all part of the journey. Now here we are. We’re fighting for the world title and I’m ready.”
When the Austin, Texas product Floyd Schofield enters the ring on Saturday night, he will also be attempting to win his first world title. He appreciates the opportunity, and he appreciates the person that made it possible.
“This fight is for my pops. At the end of the day, he sacrificed his whole life for me just to be in this position. So I got a lot to prove Saturday,” Schofield said at the press conference.
On Saturday night, October 10th, the Schofield vs. Bahdi clash is guaranteed to be an action-packed event. Both men will enter the ring undefeated, but by the end of the night, somebody’s 0 has got to go.
