Eddie Hearn keeps turning the Joshua–Fury promotion into a victory lap over Dana White. His latest interviews devote lengthy stretches to how he resisted pressure and won their contractual dispute, taking attention away from two fighters whose vulnerabilities offer a much stronger selling point.
Hearn needs to take a seat and let Joshua and Fury have the attention, because every interview spent discussing his rivalry with Dana White takes time away from selling the fight. Fans tune in to watch the fighters, and getting them interested in two aging heavyweights who are past their best is already a difficult job without asking them to follow two promoters bickering.
His frustration over the press conference setup makes the misdirection worse. Hearn complained openly about receiving only a single question, making it clear he wanted the microphone so he could direct the narrative himself. That desire to steer the room looks less like effective fight promotion and more like an appetite for the spotlight.
“I want to host a press conference. It’s my job,” Hearn told DAZN. “I don’t feel like there’s anyone better, but at the same time, let me spin the narrative. Let me tell you the story. Let me create the rivalry and the beef.”
Hearn knows how to get attention, but he keeps talking about his own feud with White. People who follow boxing closely may be interested in their business dispute. Casual fans need a reason to watch Joshua and Fury fight.
Selling this event requires targeting because the public waited ten years for it to materialize. Neither champion carries a recent win against a top heavyweight to create excitement. The promotion must pinpoint what each man has left, showing how diminished durability can trigger fireworks.
Every interview spent rehashing executive boardroom battles squanders precious promotional real estate. Hearn already scored his personal points against White. Now he needs to step out of the spotlight and let the danger of Joshua facing Fury carry the event.
