Saturday night in the main event from BMO Stadium in a stacked boxing card that was streamed on DAZN, Terence ‘Bud’ Crawford beat Israil Madrimov by 12 round unanimous decision to win the WBA junior middleweight title.
There were some other very interesting bouts on the card. Jose Valenzuela displayed some fine boxing skills when he beat Pitbull Cruz to win the WBA junior welterweight title. We also had the long awaited return of former unified heavyweight champion Andy Ruiz Jr. Ruiz battled to a somewhat controversial 12 round draw against Big Baby Miller, in a fight many believe Miller deserved to win.

But the man who stole the show was Martin Bakole.

Bakole squared off against Jared ‘The Real Big Baby’ Anderson, an undefeated 24 year old heavyweight contender who was widely regarded as the future of American heavyweight boxing. It was a tremendous performance from Bakole, who made a statement late in the opening round when he dropped Anderson for the first time in his career. Bakole showed off a blend of impressive hand speed, beautiful punching variety, and great accuracy to systematically break Anderson down. To his credit Anderson remained determined and battled it out with Bakole the best he could, where things soon evolved into an entertaining slugfest. But Bakole was simply too much for Anderson. Bakole dropped Anderson twice more in round 5, and the ref waved it off when Bakole was pouring it on later that round.
This edition of Rummy’s Corner will provide a quick detailed recap and review of the recent heavyweight contest between Martin Bakole and Jared Anderson. Please watch and enjoy the video for one man’s opinion. This is Rummy’s Corner (produced and narrated by Geoffrey Ciani).
