When Coppinger insisted we also need the Haney rematch too, Garcia elaborated, “No, I know, but that’s always gonna be there, though. But that’s who I want to fight. I want to go from Barrios to Shakur.” All of this speculation ahead of Garcia’s upcoming fight on February 21, when he challenges WBC welterweight champion Mario Barrios.

Barrios and Garcia are set to square off this Saturday night at the T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas, Nevada. Meanwhile, Stevenson is coming off a career best victory against Teofimo Lopez last month, marking Shakur as a four division world champion. On the other hand, Garcia has never won a major world championship, and he is coming off of a loss against Rolly Romero, and prior to that his initial victory against Devin Haney was overturned and changed to a no contest following a failed drug test for a banned substance.
