Jose Ramirez, Rances Barthelemy, Vergil Ortiz Jr., and Thomas Dulorme made weight on Friday for their fights this Saturday night in their doubleheader live on DAZN from the Save Mart Arena in Fresno, California. The event will be shown on DAZN starting at 8:00 p.m. ET.

Former WBC/WBO light welterweight champion Jose Ramirez (28-1, 18 KOs) will fight in the main event, a 12-round tune-up bout against 37-year-old former two-division world champion Rances Barthelemy (30-21, 15 KOs).

The boxing world isn’t very interested in Ramirez vs. Barthelemy for obvious reasons. Barthelemy isn’t one of the major players at 140, and he’s not young, nearing 40.

Fans expected a lot more from the recently signed Golden Boy fighter Ramirez, but his career has slowed dramatically since his loss to Josh Taylor in 2021. The 31-year-old Ramirez has fought just twice in the last three years, beating Jose Pedraza and Richard Commey in stay-busy fights.

Now, Ramirez is doing the same thing against Barthelemy, and you have to wonder if that defeat to Josh Taylor did something to Ramirez’s self-confidence because he’s not shown much desire to step it up against high-level opposition ever since.

In the co-feature bout, former welterweight contender Vergil Ortiz Jr. (20-0, 20 KOs) will fight the heavy-handed Thomas Dulorme (26-6-1, 17 KOs) in a 12-round fight at middleweight. If Ortiz wins, he’ll be fighting former WBO junior middleweight champion Tim Tszyu on August 3rd.

Light welterweight Oscar Duarte weighed in at 138 lbs for his fight against former super featherweight champion Joseph Diaz Jr. Duarte has heavy hands and is coming off a knockout loss to Ryan Garcia. He should win this fight without many problems if he can outwork Diaz Jr. That’s a big if.
