Boxing Results: Jose Ramirez Defeats Rances Barthelemy; Ortiz Destroys Dulorme

At Save Mart Arena, Fresno, CA, Saturday over DAZN, Promoter Oscar de la Hoya (Golden Boy Promotions) presented in the Main Event former WBC and WBO Light Welterweight champion Jose ‘Jaguar’ Ramirez who defeated former IBF Super Feather and Light champion Rances ‘Kid Blast’ Barthelemy over 12 rounds.

In the co-feature Super Welterweight Vergil Ortiz, Jr. stopped former NABF champ Thomas ‘Condero’ Dulorme in first round.

In the Main Event former WBC and WBO Light Welter champ Jose ‘Jaguar’ Ramirez, 29-1 (18), #141¾, of Avenal, CA, defeated former IBF Super Featherweight and Lightweight champ Rances ‘Kid Blast’ Barthelemy, 30-3-1 (15), #142, of Havana, Cuba, Las Vegas, NV, over 12 rounds.

In the first round Ramirez outworked Barthelemy who came out southpaw before returning to orthodox. In the second round Ramirez continued out landing Barthelemy to the body. In the third round Barthelemy dropped Ramirez with a left to the body but kept punching him while down losing a point from Referee Jack Reiss and not counting as a knockdown.

In the fourth round Barthelemy hurt Ramirez with lefts to the body but Ramirez came back out landing Barthelemy the last two minutes. In the fifth round both went to the body with Ramirez ending up stronger at the finish. In the sixth round Ramirez went to the body while Barthelemy landed occasional lead lefts from southpaw.

In the seventh and eighth rounds Ramirez out landed Barthelemy having him against the ropes, but the always dangerous Barthelemy lands lefts to the body and chin on occasion. In the ninth and tenth rounds Ramirez continued out landing Barthelemy.

In the eleventh round Ramirez landed over two dozen punches without return at the bell. In the twelfth and final round Ramirez continued out landing Barthelemy who landed little in return.

Scores were 119-109 twice and 120-108, 117-111 KH.

In the co-feature former WBO Int’l Welter champ Vergil Ortiz, Jr., 21-0 (21), #155½, of Grand Prairie, TX, stopped former NABF WBO NABO Super Lightweight champ Thomas ‘Condero’ Dulorme, 26-7-1 (17), #154½, of Carolina, PR, at 2:39 of the first round of a scheduled 12 rounds.

In the first round a left from Ortiz, Jr. to the body and down went Dulorme in severe pain waved off by Referee Thomas Taylor.

Former NABF Lightweight champ Oscar ‘La Migrana’ Duarte, 27-2-1 (22), #137½, of Parral, Chihuahua, MEX, stopped 2012 Olympian and NABF Featherweight champion southpaw Joseph ‘Jo Jo’ Diaz, 33-6-1 (15), #138, of Downey, CA, at 2:32 of the ninth round of a scheduled 10 rounds.

In the first round Diaz had an edge. In the second round it was Duarte coming back well outworking Diaz. In the third round Diaz countered the oncoming Durate taking the round.

In the fourth round it was Diaz outworking Durate. In the fifth round Durate hurt Diaz with a right to the chin after a minute in the round. In the sixth round Durate continued out landing Diaz.

In the seventh and eighth rounds Durate drove Diaz around the ring landing mostly body shots. In the ninth round Durate had Diaz defenseless forcing Referee Michael Margado wave it off as the towel followed. Durate ahead after 8 rounds 79-73 twice and 78-74.

In a rematch former 2012 Olympic Bronze Medalist and former WBA, WBC and WBO Flyweight champion Marlen Esparza, 14-2 (1), #114, of Houston, TX, lost to former World WBO Flyweight champ Gabriela ‘La Chucky’ Alaniz, 15-1 (6), #111¼, of Bueno Aires, ARG, who won the three titles after 10×2 rounds.

Not making weight Esparza lost her title.

In the first round Alaniz kept coming forward taking the first round as Esparza countered with jabs and occasional rights to the chin. In the second round Esparza came back well. Taking the round. In the third round Alaniz was out landing Esparza. In the fourth round it was close with Esparza landing more punches.

In the fifth and sixth rounds both had their moments. In the seventh and eighth rounds Esparza had an edge countering Alaniz. In the ninth round it could have gone either way. In the tenth and final round it was the jab of Esparza that won the round.

Scores were 97-93 Alaniz, 98-92 Esparza and 96-94 Alaniz as did KH.

NABF Welterweight champ and 2016 Olympian southpaw Raul ‘Cugar’ Curiel, 15-0 (13), #147, of Guadalajara, Jalisco, MEX, knocked out Jorge Marron, Jr., 20-5-2 (7), #146¼, of Lakeside, CA, at 1:31 of the first round of a scheduled 10 rounds.

In the first round Curiel late in the first minute with a left to the body dropped Marron, Jr. for an 8-count from Referee Thomas Taylor. Curiel jumped on him with a left to the body as referee Taylor counted him out.

Super Feather Bryan Lua, 9-0 (4), #132½,
of Madera, CA, stopped Ronaldo ‘Criminal’ Solis, 4-5-1 (3), #132½, of Cancun, Quintana Roo, MEX, 6 rounds.

In the first round Lua scored a pair of knockdowns forcing Referee Jack Reiss to wave it off without a count.

Bantam Figo ‘La Maqina’ Ramirez Gonzalez, 6-0 (3), #118, of Dallas, TX, stopped Alejandro Robles, 0-3 (0), #117½, of after 3 rounds of a scheduled 4 rounds.

Gonzales dominated Robles for three rounds. Referee Edward Collantes called a halt between rounds.
