Ryan Garcia Shifts Gears, But Is It Too Late?

By Dan Ambrose - 03/06/2024 - Comments

Ryan Garcia just now posted on social media, saying he won’t be Tweeting non-boxing stuff and will focus on his fight with Devin Haney on April 20th.

Damage May be Done

This suggests that someone has talked to Ryan, telling him to pipe down to prevent ruining the marketing of his April 20th fight against WBC light welterweight champion Haney on DAZN PPV. Fans think Ryan isn’t fit to fight, and given his shaky mental state, many will be reluctant to purchase the event.

It seems like someone intervened, letting Ryan know that he cannot afford to do further damage to the event with his behavior.

The million-dollar question is whether it’s too late. A storm of boxing fans believes Ryan needs to be pulled from the fight for his own good and for the sake of the event, which, at this point, could be a PPV disaster.

A PPV in Peril?

Ryan has been posting bizarre stuff on social media, talking all kinds of craziness, and giving fans the belief that he’s mentally gone off the deep end and won’t make it to his fight against Haney.

“I Ryan Garcia, will not be speaking or tweeting or writing anything other then My Fight “Boxing” and Sports.

All topics of discussion will be discussed after my fight 🥊 5 weeks of focus.

You have my word I’m locked in I’ll see you 4-20,” said Ryan Garcia on X.

5 Weeks of Uncertainty

Ryan has pledged, “5 weeks of focus,” but for fans, it’ll be 5 weeks of uncertainty, and many of them will be worried about wasting their money on an event that has little hope of happening.

Many fans are only interested in purchasing the April 20th event on DAZN PPV because of Ryan, NOT Haney, who is a bigger version of Shakur Stevenson with a boring style and personality that is just as dull.

If Ryan pulls due to his mental issues, fans will be stuck with Haney fighting Arnold Barboza Jr. or Sandor Martin. Those fights won’t appeal to fans, at least not on PPV.
