Mayweather Urges Crawford to Face Reality: Fight Boots Ennis, Canelo Not Happening

Floyd Mayweather Jr. wants Terence Crawford to fight IBF welterweight champion Errol Spence Jr. next, feeling that it’s an excellent option for him, considering that he’s run into difficulties with his hopes for a fight against Canelo Alvarez and a rematch with Errol Spence Jr.

Ennis Dismissed, Canelo a Dead End

Crawford has repeatedly ruled out a fight against the unbeaten ‘Boots’ Ennis (31-0, 28 KOs), even though the hardcore boxing fans are eager to see the match and that it’s by far the most appealing match that can be made in terms of American fighters.

Undisputed super middleweight champion Canelo has said repeatedly that he’s NOT interested in fighting Crawford, and for some reason the Omaha, Nebraska native isn’t giving up on quest to get that clash, even if it means sitting inactive for years at a time.

It’s disappointing that Crawford can’t get a clue and realize that a Canelo fight is not happening for him and NEVER will. His dreams of that fight happening are hopelessly deluded, and he regret the valuable time he’s wasted in his life, waiting for the that match to fall into his lap by the forces of gravity.

It’s not the smartest thing for Crawford to sit on the shelf, not fighting and calling out Canelo. One gets the sense that the 36-year-old Crawford only wants massive paydays from this point on after wetting his beak on a load of cold, hard cash for his last match against unified welterweight champion Spence. He doesn’t want to take a pay cut by fighting a young killer like ‘Boots’ Ennis or one of the talents at 154.

Mayweather’s Solution

“Somebody’s got to give ‘Boots’ the opportunity. It’s been difficult for Terence Crawford to get the [Errol] Spence rematch done, it’s been difficult to get the Canelo [Alvarez] fight done, so his other option is to fight ‘Boots’ Ennis,” said Floyd Mayweather Jr. to FightHype about who he would like Terence Crawford to fight next, given that he’s run into obstacles getting the rematch with Errol Spence Jr. and the big-money fight that he’s been after against Canelo Alvarez.

Crawford keeps holding onto his unrealistic dream of a fight with Canelo. He needs to face reality. He won’t get that fight and needs to take the opportunities there for him, namely, Boots Ennis.
