Devin Haney Unimpressed by Ryan Garcia’s Social Media Antics

WBC light welterweight champion Devin Haney isn’t fooled by Ryan Garcia’s strange post on social media today. Haney (31-0, 15 KOs) sees it as a case of Ryan (24-1, 20 KOs) trolling the public to seek attention for his enjoyment, a misguided attempt to seek fake buzz.

Still, no one has heard anything from Ryan since he posted it, which appears to be commotion inside Ryan’s house and then someone taking control of his phone and saying, “We got him, boys. Ryan Garcia RIP, b**ch. 666. Video is exactly 666 in time. We told you’re we’re coming.

“Stop paying attention to his trolling… this dude is trying to rock everybody to sleep!” Haney said on X.

Cause for Concern?

Devin’s remark seems to convey the belief that Ryan wants to artificially create interest in their April 20th fight by bringing drama into his life. However, the violent nature of Ryan’s social media post creates worry from fans, who wonder if he’s physically or mentally ok.

Despite Haney’s casualness about Ryan’s post, he has to be concerned because he could have been harmed if it’s a break in, and if this mental issue, as some believe, that doesn’t bode well for the April 20th fight between Devin and Kingry on DAZN PPV.

If Ryan cannot fight, Haney must defend his WBC light welterweight title against replacement opponent Arnold Barboza Jr., which will not sell nearly as well on PPV. Golden Boy and Matchroom will still likely keep Haney’s April 20th title defense on DAZN pay-per-view, but the buy rate for a clash against Barboza Jr. could be very low.

Silence Fuels Speculation

Ryan’s silence in the hours since the post went up has fans speculating what could have happened to him. People on social media question whether Ryan is dead or alive, nothing that he hasn’t posted in hours to confirm whether he’s OK.

Haney says it’s trolling, but no one knows for certain. Hopefully, someone from Ryan’s team has checked on him to confirm if he’s ok.

If this is just a game by Ryan, it’s going to hurt his popularity in the boxing world, as fans won’t trust him after this, believing that he’s childish and will do anything to create fake drama in his fight. His reputation will be tarnished.
