WBC world flyweight champion Julio Cesar ‘El Rey’ Martinez (21-3, 15 KOs) squeaked out a 12 round majority decision over a tough previously unbeaten fringe contender Angelino Cordova (18-1-1, 12 KOs) in a war on the undercard of Tim Tszyu vs. Sebastian Fundora on Prime Video PPV at the T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas.

The scores were:

113-113
114-112
114-112

It was surprising the fight went to the cards after the hard-hitting, unorthodox Martinez knocked Cordova down twice in the third round, and had him with an eyelash of being knocked out.

Martinez continued to hurt Cordova in the fourth and fifth rounds with heavy shots. ‘El Rey’ Martinez was getting a lot of power on his left jabs, which surprisingly were hurting Cordova left and right.

In the championship rounds, Cordova fought well, appearing to win rounds nine through eleven. However, in the twelfth, Cordova took his foot off the gas pedal, possibly thinking he was ahead, and he gave the round away to the more aggressive Martinez. That proved to be a mistake.
