Hearn Predicts Stoppage for Haney win over Ryan Garcia on DAZN

Promoter Eddie Hearn is picking his fighter, WBC light welterweight champion Devin Haney, to defeat Ryan Garcia by a late stoppage or a points decision in their 12-round headliner on April 20th on DAZN.

There’s still no official word if Haney vs. Garcia will be shown on PPV on DAZN, but it’s assumed that boxing fans will need to pay to see it.

Considering the amount of interest already in the Haney-Garcia clash, it makes sense for it to be behind a paywall. The organizers are likely waiting to choose a price that won’t cause fans to balk, as we saw with Haney’s last PPV clash on DAZN against Regis Prograis on December 9th.

Ryan will need to score a knockout for him to win because he doesn’t have the boxing skills to defeat the more athletic Haney by a decision.

Hearn Praises Match-up

“A fantastic fight. A perfect fight for Devin and a perfect fight for DAZN. A great fight for Ryan Garcia. Fair play to both guys. They’re two tremendous young fighters putting it on the line on April 20th. I’m looking forward to a massive night,” said Eddie Hearn to Secondsout, talking about the clash between WBC light welterweight champion Devin Haney and Ryan Garcia on DAZN PPV.

“I think Devin wins by late stoppage or points.”

We don’t know who Hearn would pick if he didn’t have one of his own fighters involved in the contest. Would he still pick Haney to win if he wasn’t promoting him?

Ford Picks Ryan to Win

I’ve been riding with Devin all his fights. I’m going with Ryan in this fight because I’ve been in front of him,” said trainer Calvin Ford to MillCity Boxing, picking Garcia to defeat Haney. I’ve been in front of Ryan, and that’s why I’m favoring in that way.

“What I’ve seen is it’s going to be an interesting fight, but I think Ryan has had enough time being with [trainer] Derrick [James]. Taking the fight, both of them have got a lot to lose, and a lot to gain.

“It’s going to be a good fight, and it’s going to be a fight that’s watchable. I’m trying to figure out who is the A-side and who is the B-side. Who’s name is going to go [first], and where is the fight going to be,” said Ford.
