Hearn says the unbeaten lightweight contender Cruz (2-0, 1 KOs) will easily beat Keyshawn, and he says he’s going to contact Top Rank on Saturday night after Andy’s fight against Brayan Zamarripa to try and make that match-up happen.

Keyshawn has a 0-4 record against Cruz from their amateur days, and he doesn’t appear to fancy taking the fight in the pro ranks and get schooled for fifth time. Hearn thinks Keyshawn has a mental block that prevents him from being competitive.

Cruz faces Zamarripa (14-2, 5 KOs) in the co-feature this Saturday, February 24th, at the Caribe Royale in Orlando, Florida. The fight will be shown on DAZN

“It’s Like Taking Candy From a Baby”

“Come on, mate. That’s like taking candy from a baby,” said promoter Eddie Hearn to iFL TV when asked if he would make Andy Cruz vs. Keyshawn Davis next. “Listen, I might call out Keyshawn Davis with an offer on Saturday night, or I’ll give Top Rank Andy Cruz for nothing. I’ll pay the purse.

“Keyshawn Davis can’t beat Andy Cruz. It’s impossible. You know you get that mental block sometimes just like when your facing anyone. That’s what would happen to Keyshawn, and I love Keyshawn. I think he’s a great bloke. He’s great for boxing. He can really fight.

Keyshawn Would Never Beat Cruz

“They could fight 100 times, and Keyshawn would not beat Andy Cruz. If I’m wrong, make the fight, and what they’ll say is, ‘Oh, Andy doesn’t make commercial sense.’ All the things I would say if I wanted to stay well away from this guy.

“[Brayan] Zamarripa is a real fight. Let’s see him [Cruz] comes through on Saturday night, and if he comes through in style, you will not hear the end of me about that fight,” said Hearn about the Keyshawn vs. Andy Cruz fight.
