Promoter Eddie Hearn says Gervonta Davis has declined the offer to face Conor Benn for his next fight. Hearn is now looking in another direction for Benn’s next fight, towards potentially a clash against American Danny Garcia.

Davis Miscalculates? The Ryan Factor

Most fans doubted that the PBC fighter, Gervonta (29-0, 27 KOs), would accept an offer to fight Benn, seeing that he’s coming from an enormous PPV clash against Ryan Garcia last April, and he would similar money for a match against Conor.

Tank is likely spoiled rotten from the payday he got from the fight against Ryan and now expects to make the same amount for all his contests. That’s not realistic, but Tank will find out that out for himself as he sits and waits and waits and waits.

Danny Garcia: A Step Back with Big Upside

The former two-division world champion Garcia (37-3, 21 KOs) says he’s interested in facing the welterweight Benn (23-0, 14 KOs) and traveling to the UK to make the fight happen for the right price. It’s a risky fight for Benn to fight Danny because this can punch, and he’s a better talent than him.

Danny Garcia isn’t a big name like Tank Davis with the younger fans, who weren’t following the sport when he was in the zenith of his career from 2011 to 2018, but the older boxing fans know of him. They’ll be interested in seeing Benn face Danny, but it won’t be the big-money fight that Conor and Hearn were hoping for.

For Hearn, he’ll likely need to continue working tirelessly to get Chris Eubank Jr. to agree to fight Benn. That fight would interest UK fans, as it would be a celebrity-level match between two fighters living off their famous fathers’ names but who lack the talent to beat A-level opposition to carve their careers.

Playing It Safe or Playing It Smart?

Hearn told Pro Boxing Fans that he has four or five options he’s looking at in addition to Garcia. He didn’t say who those opponents are, but it’s likely fighters along the level of Benn’s last two opponents, Peter Dobson and Rafael Orozco. The opponent would be someone from the fringes or second tier.

It seems that Hearn is trying to keep Benn away from risky opponents unless it’s a big-money fight, like Tank Davis, Devin Haney, Ryan Garcia, or Terence Crawford.
