Davis Backs Big Guy: Rolly Favored in Cruz Clash, But Can “Pitbull” Bite?

Keyshawn Davis is picking WBA light welterweight champion Rolando ‘Rolly’ Romero to defeat challenger Isaac ‘Pitbull’ Cruz on March 30th on Amazon Prime PPV at the T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas.

Cruz could expose Rolly the way his last opponent was, Ismael Barroso before their fight was stopped in a controversial fashion last May. In this case, Rolly might not be saved by the referee again, and Pitbull will snatch the WBA title from him.

Davis Sees Size Advantage for Rolly

Davis feels that the 5’8″ Rolly (15-1, 13 KOs) with his four inch height and five-inch reach advantage over the 5’4″ ‘Pitbull’ Cruz (25-2-1, 17 KOs) will be too big and powerful for him.

In a controversial move, Cruz has been picked out by Rolly’s management from the 135-lb division rather than from the 140-lb weight class, where he has his WBA mandatory Ismael Barroso waiting for his title shot after destroying the previous #1 contender Ohara Davies by a first-round knockout last January.

Cruz: Underdog with Bite?

“That’s a fun fight right there. It’s a very intriguing fight. Honestly, I’ve got Rolly because of his size difference,” said Keyshawn Davis to Fight Hub TV, picking WBA light welterweight champion Rolando ‘Rolly’ Romero to defeat challenger Isaac ‘Pitbull’ Cruz on March 30th.

“Isaac Cruz is like a midget. He’s short. He can fight, though. He’s definitely a great fighter, but he’s coming up in weight. He’s so small, though. For Rolly to lose to him with the power that Rolly has, it’s going to be shocking.”

Pitbull Cruz took Gervonta Davis’s best shots for 12 rounds and came close to beating him in 2021. Cruz is a bigger puncher than Rolly. If Cruz could take Tank Davis’ power, he wouldn’t have an issue with Rolly.

“It’s definitely going to be a good fight. I don’t put nothing past Isaac Cruz,” said Keyshawn. “I think he still has a good chance of winning and stuff like that, but just the size difference. That’s Rolly’s weight class. I’m just going to give it to Rolly.

“I respect Isaac Cruz. He’s a hell of a fighter. Every fight, he goes in there and gets the job done with knockouts. With me, I would expect [Rolly] to box him fairly easily.

“He’s a fighter that is not going to make not fight easy, but I’m saying it would be fairly easy for me. I would box him,” said Keyshawn.
