Boxing Results: Vlad Panin defeats Quashawn Toler!

In the Main Event in Houston Quashawn Toler, 17-2 (12), #145 ¾, of Cincinnati, OH, lost to Vlad Panin, 18-1 (10), #147, of Gomel, Belarus and L.A., CA, over 10 rounds.

In the first three rounds Panin was the aggressor having an edge in all close rounds. In the fourth round Toler did enough to come back and take the round.

In the fifth round it was another close one. In the sixth and seventh rounds Panin seemed to land a bit more than Toler again the aggressor. In the eighth rounds halfway point Panin landed the best punch of the fight a solid right to the chin of Toler.

In the ninth rounds halfway point Panin landed five punches without return outworking Toler. In the tenth and final round Toler finally put some offense together taking a close round. Referee James Green

Scores were 97-93, 96-94 and 98-92 as did KH.

In the co-feature Super Light Breyon “Grind Time” Gorham, 16-0 (13), #139, of Houston, TX, came off the canvas to defeat southpaw Wilfredo “El Bravo Vega” Flores, 10-2-1 (4), #138 ½, of Ponce, PR, Dunkirk, NY, over 8 rounds.

In the first round with half a minute remaining southpaw Flores landed a right hook on the chin and down went Gorham for an 8-count from Referee Alexander. In the second through the fifth rounds, it was Gorham. In the sixth round Flores came back to take the round.

In the seventh round with his fans behind him Gorham outworked Flores. In the eighth and final round it was the best of the fight with Gorham having a slight edge.

Scores were all 78-73.

Light Heavy Edel Gomez, 9-0-1 (8), #174 ½, of Fremont, NEB, stopped James “Lights Out” Weissman, 5-2 (4), #178, of Denver, CO, at 0:57 of the second round of a scheduled 6 rounds.

In the first round in the final seconds a right from Gomez on the chin and down went Weissman for an 8-count from Referee. In the second round again Gomez scored a knockdown landing a right for an 8-count. Weissman got up throwing rights until a counter left from Gomez dropped him to end the fight.

Bantam southpaw Jose Camacho Torres, 8-0-1 (3), #122, of Council Bluffs, IA, defeated Luis Alberto Lopez, 6-2 (3), #121, of Cleveland, TX, 6 rounds.

In the first two rounds the taller southpaw Camacho and Lopez split them. In the third and fourth rounds it was Camacho and in the fifth Lopez. In the sixth and final round Lopez who hadn’t fought in almost nine years landed numerous rights taking the round. Referee Gene
