Mikaela Mayer, strutting in with a record of 19 wins (5 KOs) and 1 loss, is an Olympian, a former IBF and WBO junior lightweight world champion, and now she’s eyeing a shiny new belt in a different division. Talk about ambition!

Jack Cullen, with 22 wins (10 KOs), 4 losses, and 1 draw, is all geared up to defend his British and Commonwealth super middleweight titles. He’s squaring off against his old adversary Zak Chelli, who’s no slouch with 14 wins (7 KOs), 2 losses, and 1 draw.

And who’s narrating this fistic saga? None other than the Hall of Famer Timothy Bradley Jr. and the ever-eloquent Bernardo Osuna.

Mark your calendars (or just set a reminder on your phone, we’re not judging) for January 20, 2:00 p.m. ET, and get ready to watch Natasha Jonas and Mikaela Mayer duke it out for the IBF Welterweight title on ESPN+.

Natasha Jonas: “Often, the top fighters don’t clash due to various reasons. But to be recognized as a standout in my time, I must take on the best. Looking at the likes of Katie Taylors and Chantelle Camerons, who have overcome those ranked in the top ten pound-for-pound, I feel I must do the same to establish my own legacy. Mikaela is among those elite, and I’m ready to face her.

“I foresee a thrilling fight ahead. Both of us possess the intelligence and skill to box effectively, as well as the power and strength to engage in a more physical battle if necessary. Our styles are such that they should combine to create an exceptional fight. I intend to be proactive, setting the pace from the start, and ensuring that Mikaela has to adapt to my strategy.”

Mikaela Mayer: “This fight will be highly tactical. Facing a southpaw like Jonas, with me being orthodox, requires a distinct approach. My coach, a master of strategy and technique, has devised a specific plan that I need to execute flawlessly to avoid complications later.

“Once the fight begins, respect is sidelined. Being in her territory, I might not have the crowd’s support, but that doesn’t change the fact that we’re both skilled and experienced competitors who are at the peak of our careers. Every round counts, and I can’t afford to lose focus or give away any advantage. The fight demands my utmost attention from the very first bell.”

Natasha Jonas: “That’s precisely it – the mutual respect can return after the tenth round. But from round one to ten, it’s strictly professional, nothing personal, just the business of boxing.”

BOXXER Founder and CEO Ben Shalom: “Tasha and we have been on this journey for two years, but for her, it’s the culmination of 15 years of hard work. Witnessing her receive the recognition she’s long deserved is a proud moment for us. Headlining in Liverpool, with the event’s success and the city’s tributes like murals, underscores her status as a Liverpool icon. This city holds a special place in her heart, and vice versa. Having her return as a multi-division champion to fight Mikaela Mayer is monumental for BOXXER and Sky Sports. But for Tasha, it’s the realization of a dream.”
