Keyshawn Davis Praises PBC: Hints at Future Move After Top Rank Contract Ends

Top Rank-promoted lightweight contender Keyshawn Davis gushed nonstop about PBC’s ability to make stars out of fighters, making it clear that he admires the company.

Keyhawn used Rolando ‘Rolly’ Romero, Mario Barrios, and Isaac Cruz as examples of fighters that PBC transformed into stars after they fought Gervonta ‘Tank’ Davis.

PBC’s Star Power Attracts Keyshawn

Davis is still with Top Rank, and it’s unclear whether his contract with them ends soon. But if they choose to throw Keyshawn with one of their top fighters at 135, like Vasily Lomachenko or Shakur Stevenson, can he be counted on to win?

Given that Keyshawn came close to losing his last fight against little-known second-tier fighter Nahir Albright, the chances of beating Loma or Shakur are zero. He’s not that type of talent.

I just love that side of the street that they know how to build stars,” said Keyshawn Davis to Fighthype, praising PBC, sounding like he’s interested in heading there after his contract with Top Rank expires.

Some would argue that Keyshawn wants to sign with PBC to get a big payday in a fight against Tank Davis, which he has no chance of winning.

Let’s get this straight: Barios, Cruz, and Rolly are NOT stars, and they likely never will be. They’re just average fighters used as cardboard props to make Tank look good.

A star is someone who headlines on PPV and brings in massive money. Those are not stars.

Building a Brand

“That’s exactly what they do. When you look at Isaac Cruz. Nobody knew Isaac Cruz until he fought Tank. Nobody knew Mario Barrios until he fought Tank. Nobody knew Rolly Romero until he fought Tank,” Keyshawn continued.

“Yes, they’re all riding Tank’s coattails, but after they fight Tank, those guys become stars and make more money than they ever would have expected. I just like how they create stars on that side.

“Frank [Martin] is going to lose that fight. He’s probably going to get knocked out,” Keyshawn said about Frank Martin if he faces Gervonta ‘Tank’ Davis next.

“Maybe that’s the reason why he probably didn’t want to fight Shakur because maybe he knew he was going to fight Gervonta. That’s in-house that everybody didn’t know about. I just like how they’re creating stars on that side of the street. That’s what I like,” said Skakur about PBC.
