Promoter Oscar De La Hoya views Jaime Munguia’s contest against veteran John Ryder as a stepping stone to the championship level when they meet this Saturday night, January 27th, at the Footprint Center in Phoenix, Arizona. This event will be shown on DAZN
De La Hoya feels that a knockout win for Munguia (42-0, 33 KOs) over Ryder (32-6, 18 KOs) would put the 27-year-old on the championship level, ready to fight Canelo Alvarez or David Benavidez.

“I think John Ryder is a very tough live dog as they say in boxing. I think this is a great fight, it’s a great card from top to bottom,” said Oscar De La Hoya to DAZN Boxing about Jaime Munguia’s fight against John Ryder this Saturday.
Ryder has a chance against Munguia if he can get inside and pound him with shots the way he did against Canelo and Callum Smith. If Ryder wins, you can’t call it a big upset because Munguia was arguably beaten by Derevyanchenko and Dennis Hogan in the past.
