Boxing results: Josh “Pretty Boy” Kelly Stops Placido Ramirez!

WBO International Super Welterweight champion and WBO No. 1 ranked Josh “Pretty Boy” Kelly stopped Colombia’s Placido Ramirez in 3 rounds in an IBO eliminator at the Beacon of Light, Sunderland, Tyne and Wear, UK, Saturday.

In the main event, Olympian, WBO Int’l Super Welterweight champion and No. 1 WBO ranked Josh “Pretty Boy” Kelly, 15-1-1 (8,) stopped late substitute Placido Ramirez, 24-4 (17) at 2:38 or the third round of a scheduled 12 rounds in an IBO eliminator.

In the first two rounds, Kelly took easily. In the third round, a jab, followed by a right uppercut from Kelly on the chin and down went Ramirez taking a knee for the entire ten count from Referee John Latham.

Super Welter 10x amateur champ southpaw Dan Toward, 2-0 (1) impressed in defeating Nikolas Dzurnak, 6-6-2 (5), over six rounds.

In the first four rounds, toward dominated with quick hands keeping Dzurnak on the defense. In the fifth round, a lead left from Toward on the chin and down went Dzurnak for an 8-count from referee Ron Kelly. In the sixth and final round, Toward continued the shutout.

Referee Kelly scored 60-53, as did KH.

Super welter southpaw Travis Waters, 5-0 (3), stopped Mykhailo “Pitbull” Sovtus, 5-30-1 (2), at 0:36 of the 4th round.

In the first three rounds, southpaw Waters dominated with combinations. In the fourth and final round, Waters had Sovtus hurt when Referee Steve Wilson wisely called a halt. Waters showed many skills.

Welter Ben Marksby, 9-0 (0) defeated Kurt Jackson, 4-1 (0) over six rounds.

In the first two rounds, Jackson was the aggressor, taking the rounds with Marksby doing good body countering. From the fourth through the sixth rounds, Marksby outworked Jackson.

Referee Paul scored 59-55 Marksby, as did KH.

3-time Feather amateur champ “Atomic” Tom Welland, 2-0 (1), defeated Yuri Zanoli, 3-13-1 (3) over six rounds.

In the first round final minute, a Welland left hook on the chin and down went Zanoli for an 8-count from Referee Ron Kelly. In the third round a right from Welland opened a cut on the left eyebrow of Zanoli.

In the fifth round, Zanoli’s right eyebrow was cut. In the sixth and final round, Welland tried for a stoppage against the bloody-faced Zanoli but couldn’t do it in winning every round in an impressive performance.

Referee Kelly scored 60-53, as did KH.
