Jermall Charlo told the media last Saturday night that his brother Jermell is having some issues. Jermell didn’t show up to watch his twin, Jermall’s ten round co-feature fight against Jose Benavidez Jr. last Saturday night at the Michelob Ultra Arena in Las Vegas.

The unbeaten Jermall (33-0, 22 KOs) easily won a wide ten round unanimous decision against the game Benavidez Jr. (28-3-1, 19 KOs) in his first fight in two and a half years.

After the fight, Jermall told the media that Jermell hadn’t been answering his phone calls and hadn’t attended the fight. He said that he wanted someone to call Jermell to let him know that he loved him and wanted him to call him back.

It’s unclear why Jermell isn’t speaking to his brother Jermall, but it’s a good sign that the WBC middleweight champion is reaching out to speak with him.

Jermell is obviously going through some tough times of his own after suffering his first career defeat against undisputed super middleweight champion Canelo Alvarez last September. Many fans have criticized Jermell for his performance, which they felt was a safety first one.

A lot of them think Jermell just came for the payday and didn’t try to actually win, and they don’t respect him for that. The loss was the type that could make it difficult for Jermell to get important fights in the future against popular fighters because there would be a concern that he wouldn’t try hard

Jermell has been stripped of two of his titles ate 154, and is no longer the undisputed champion. If he chooses to stay out of the ring for a long duration, he could have his last two belts stripped from him.

Jermall sends message to his brother Jermell

“If you have a problem, the best way to overcome your problems is to final a special person and talk to them,” said Jermall Charlo at the post-fight press conference last Saturday night. “Some people, they’re here for you.

“People like me. DM me. I might hit you back. Find somebody to get you some help. It gets dark, and it’s real. If y’all talk to my twin brother. Tell him that I love him, and I won the fight, and y’all call him for me.

“He’s not answering my calls. Let’s get these big fights going, and I’ve got more to go. I’m happy to be back,” said Jermall.

It would be good for the two brothers to begin talking again. Jermall made his first appearance in two and a half years on the undercard of the David Benavidez vs. Demetrius Andrade card on Showtime PPV.

The performance from Jermall was excellent, as he showed that his jab and power punches are still top notch. His defense was leaky at times, but it wasn’t a glaring problem that couldn’t be fixed with more work.

After the fight, Jermall said he’d be returning to the gym on Monday to keep working to improve for his next fight.

Jose Sr. wants Jermall for David Benavidez

“Let’s f*** up Jermall. With all my respects, he won. He won fair & square,” said Jose Benavidez Sr. to ESNEWS when asked if he’d be interested in putting together a fight between Jermall Charlo and David Benavidez next.

That had to be hard for Jose Sr. to watch his son, Benavidez Jr. get so easily handled by Jermall last Saturday night, as there was nothing he could do about it.

It’s not like he could send David Benavidez to the rescue in a tag team type of situation to help out his beleaguered brother. Jose Sr. seems like he wants David to get revenge for his bro against Jermall in his next fight if he can’t get the Canelo Alvarez title shot.

“I hope we can get that fight. I like that fight actually. That’s a great fight,” said Jose Sr about Jermall. “We’ll f*** him up with David Benavidez, to be honest with you. He won fair & square today. Thank you for the opportunity, but that’ll be a great fight actually.

“If Canelo doesn’t want to fight. Jermall isn’t afraid to fight David. Let’s f*** everybody up at 168,” said Jose Sr.

Benavidez has plenty of options besides Jermall if he can’t get the fight with Canelo. Caleb Plant would probably be agreeable to a rematch, and there’s Edgar Berlanga, Artur Beterbiev or Dmitry Bivol.
