By Ken Hissner: At the Overtime Elite Arena, Atlanta, Georgia Friday over DAZN promoted by Brandon Rhodes (OXT Overtime Boxing) in the Main Event unbeaten Super Lightweight Kurt Scoby stopped Narcisco Carmona in 6 rounds. In the co-Main Event Super Middleweight Money Powell IV lost to unbeaten Shawn “The Amazing” McCalman.
In the Main Event Super Lightweight Kurt Scoby, 13-0 (11), #139 ½, of Brooklyn, NY, stopped southpaw Narcisco Carmona, 11-1-1 (6), #139 ¼, of Sevilla, SP, at 2:31 of the sixth round of a scheduled 8 rounds.
In the first two rounds Scoby was the aggressor outworking Carmona. In the fourth round Scoby used good body work taking another round.
In the fifth round Carmona had his best round out landing Scoby. In the sixth round Scoby had Carmona defenseless with a swarm of punches causing Referee Malik Waleed to call a halt.
In co-Main Event Super Middle Money Powell IV, 13-2 (8), #168, of Hanau, GER and Ft. Mitchell, AL, lost to Shawn “The Amazing” McCalman, 14-0 (7), #168, of Aurora, CO, over 8 rounds.
In the first four rounds McCalman outworked Powell. In the seventh round a right uppercut to the body from Powell hurt McCalman. In the eighth and final round Powell continued out landing McCalman. Referee Pat Cronin.
Scores were 78-74 twice and 79-73 and 76-76 KH.
Super Bantamweight Javon ‘Pop’ Woodard, Jr. Campbell, 12-1 (10), #122 ½, of Raleigh, NC, Lorenzo Parra ll, 22-1 (17), #122, of Machiques, VZ, 8 rounds.
In the first two rounds both had their moments. In the third round it was all Parra having Woodard hurt in the final minute with a flurry of punches. In the fourth rounds final seconds Parra hurt Woodard with a right to the chin.
In the fifth round Parra had his way until the final thirty seconds when Woodard landed a big right on the chin rocking Parra drawing blood from the nose of Parra. In the seventh round Parra drew blood from the mouth of Woodard halfway through the round out landing Woodard while Parra has swelling under high right eye. In the eighth and final round Parra dominated until the final seconds when Woodard came back with both landing at the bell. Due to a draw ending they go to a ninth round.
In the ninth round the action of this round was the best of the fight. Referee Malik Waleed.
Scores were 86-85 for Woodard and 86-85 for Parra twice as did KH.
Flyweight Leanna Cruz, 6-0 (0), #112, of Allentown, PA, defeated Maryguenn Vellinga 4-4-2 (2), #112, of Park City, UT, over 6×2 rounds.
In the first two rounds both had their moments with Vellinga having an edge. In the third round Cruz scored well with lead rights taking the round. In the fourth round Cruz drew blood from the nose of Vellinga with a solid right halfway through the round.
In the fifth round Cruz continued out landing Vellinga rocking her at the bell with a right on the chin. In the sixth and final round Cruz had her way with Vellinga bleeding from the nose being out landed. Referee
Scores were all 60-54 with 58-56 KH.
Super Bantamweight southpaw “The Island Boy” Asa Stevens, 5-0 (2), #122, of Waianae, HI, won a split decision over D’Angelo Hopgood, 2-2 (2), #122, of Milwaukee, WI, over 4 rounds.
In the first three rounds it went back and forth. In the fourth round Hopgood had an edge. Referee Malik Waleed.
Scores were 39-37 Hopgood, 40-36 and 39-37 Stevens and 39-37 Stevens KH.
Super Feather southpaw Javier ‘El Guerito’ Zamarron, 5-0 (3), #128, of Milwaukee, WI, defeated Sebastian ‘The Viper’ Santiago, 0-2 (0), #128 ¼, of Cidra, PR, over 4 rounds.
In the first three rounds Zamarron had an edge though his left eye had swelling around it. In the fourth and final round Zamarron had Santiago hurt halfway through the round but Santiago fought back well. Referee Ansel Stewart.
Scores were all 40-35.
