Andy Cruz gave insight into his professional debut and what the future holds for his career in a post fight interview after his win over Burgos.
Cruz, basking in the glory of his first professional win, reveals the intensity of stepping into the pro ring. “I’m absolutely delighted. This was my first step in the Pro game. I was facing a really experienced boxer, a boxer that had more than 35 fights. So it wasn’t going to be easy,” he concedes.
“The first thing you notice is how demanding it is fighting over so many rounds. Each time you hit with those small gloves, it feels like you’ve been hit with a piece of iron,” he details, highlighting the differences and challenges he faced transitioning from being an amateur.
Assessing his performance, Cruz manifests respect for his opponent’s taelnt. “There were moments in the fight where I thought I saw his legs go and I thought I was about to get to him. But he was really experienced and he was able to recover really quickly,” he reflects.
“I always said that it’d be great if I got The Knockout, but it was all about getting the win and that was the most important thing tonight,” he emphasizes, pointing out the complexity and thrill of the pro-boxing world.

“So now, it’s just about continuing to grow, preparing well, learning, and facing the best in this sport,” Cruz affirms, sketching out his path forward.
