Ryan Garcia reacts to Eddie Hearn’s comment about making a move

By Sean Jones: Ryan Garcia denies promoter Eddie Hearn’s claim that he’s already “made his move” about heading towards signing with PBC after getting out of his contract with Golden Boy Promotions.

Ryan said on Twitter today that he’s “never” had conversations with anyone about making a move to a different promotional outfit. He thinks that Hearn may have heard it from someone, but it’s not true.

The light welterweight star Ryan Garcia (23-1, 19 KOs) and Golden Boy are expected to be involved in a legal case that will determine Kingry’s immediate future in the ring.

If Ryan leaves Golden Boy, Hearn said he’d be interested in signing him, but he feels that he’s already made up his mind and will b signing with Premier Boxing Champions.

It would be a logical move on Ryan’s part to sign with PBC because they have Rolando ‘Rolly’ Romero and Gervonta Davis. Ryan wants to fight Rolly next, and he’d also like a rematch with Tank Davis. If Ryan signs with PBC, those fights would be much easier.

“Just throwing this out there, but why would Eddie [Hearn] say this? I’ve never spoken about any move yet. He might have heard from someone that wasn’t accurate,” said Ryan Garcia on Twitter, reacting to Eddie Hearn saying that Ryan has “made his move” towards leaving Golden Boy to sign with another company.

Akin Reyes: “You mentioned De La Hoya. I have to get your opinion on this whole legal issue with Ryan Garcia. Some say it looks like he could be done with [Golden Boy]. They’re blaming each other for breaching the contract. Give me your opinion on that. Do you think they reconcile? Do you think it’s over for Ryan Garcia and Golden Boy?” said Akin to DAZN Boxing Show.

Eddie Hearn: “Firstly, he [De La Hoya] seems to be more concerned with me than Ryan Garcia. Every Tweet that comes off his account is about me. One thing we know for certain. The relationship between those two has been volatile for a while. It’s over. You don’t come back from this.

“You don’t come back from public shaming if you like on social media from the courtroom from legal costs. I’ve never known an instance where it’s been this deep where everyone just shakes hands and says, ‘Yeah, let’s just go back to work.’ Do you know what I mean?

“I’ve read the court papers that we’ve seen issued. It looks awfully messy. Ryan Garcia clearly doesn’t want to be with Golden Boy Promotions.”

Akin: “Would Ryan Garcia be someone you’d be interested in promoting?”

Hearn: “Listen, the answer is yes, but the answer is he’s gone; he’s made his move. I’ve never had one conversation with Ryan Garcia or Guadalupe about Ryan Garcia.

“This is not something that he’s just decided to do when he woke up one morning. They have a plan. They’ve been talking to people. They’ve made their decision about what they want to do, and it’s not Matchroom.”

Akin: “It’s PBC.”

Hearn: “Absolutely.  So we know the links there, and now it’s going to be up to the courts to decide whether he’s able to do that, whether he was right to do that, and it’s going to be a horrific mess.

“It’s going to cost everyone a lot of money, and it’s going to be very frustrating, and it might keep people out of the ring, but he’s made his move. Golden Boy has made their move, and it’s a bad look for everybody.

“Obviously, for Golden Boy to lose Ryan Garcia would be horrendous. Yeah,  the same [for DAZN to lose Ryan]. So obviously, everybody wants to protect their legal position. I’m staying out of it. I wish everyone the best. I hope everybody can be happy.”
