By Sam Volz: Ryan Garcia’s dad, Henry, believes his son can knock out Gervonta ‘Tank’ Davis next Saturday night on April 22nd. Fans overwhelmingly view Tank (28-0, 26 KOs), and they don’t see Ryan winning, let alone scoring a knockout.

Henry says he’s watched Ryan (23-0, 19 KOs) spar, and as far as he’s concerned, he can definitely knockout Tank. If Ryan does KO Tank, it would make huge news because a lot of boxing fans believe the former Mayweather Promotions fighter is unbeatable despite having never proven himself against elite opposition.

“If I’ve seen it in sparring, and I’ve seen it since he was young, yes, definitely, 100%,” said Henry Garcia to Fight Hub TV when asked if there’s a good chance Ryan Garcia “clips” Gervonta Davis on April 22nd.

“He’s not there to test you out. He’s got a mission, and that mission is going to happen. That’s what he’s known to do, and that’s his mission, like I said, and there’s no stopping him.

Why Ryan Garcia agreed to rehydration clause

“There are so many things we agreed on, but had we not agreed on there would have been more delays,” said Henry on what they agreed to the rehydration clause for the Tank Davis fight.  “Ryan said, ‘I just want to fight.’ It’s not too far off. Ryan doesn’t rehydrate over ten pounds anyway, so that was nothing for him.

“He’s right where we want to be because he knows the game and knows what he has to do. When you rehydrate, you don’t want to rehydrate too much because now, what about your speed?

“You have to be careful. You have to be well-balanced. That’s where Ryan understands how to be well-balanced, and we don’t have a problem with that.

“Yeah, that’s true, but the age factor here,” said Henry when told that people worry that Ryan Garcia could end up like Oscar De La Hoya when he fought Manny Pacquiao in 2008 and couldn’t rehydrate fully for their catchweight fight.

“He’s [Ryan] young, very young, and he has what it takes to succeed right now, and thank God for that. I know my son more than anybody. He did it for a reason because he foresaw something.

“I told Ryan a long time ago that if you want to shine, you’ve got to entertain. I said, ‘You’re skills are developing, and that’s great. We’re going to continue that. But once you know how to entertain and have the crowd behind you, it’s over. Game over,”  said Henry.
