By Adam Baskin: Henry Garcia says his son Ryan will only fight a rematch with Gervonta Davis at 140 with NO “conditions” if the Baltimore native wants to face him again.

Ryan (23-1, 19 KOs) WON’T agree to any weight stipulations, such as a strength-draining rehydration clause or catchweight, which Gervonta used to weaken him for their fight last Saturday night in Las Vegas.

Henry says that Ryan told him that he felt “drained” from the combination of the 10-lb rehydration clause & 136-lb catchweight that Tank Davis’ management placed in the condition as a condition for the fight to take place.

If Tank Davis wants a second fight with the popular Ryan Garcia, with his 10 million Instagram followers, he will need to do it without a weight handicap to give him a considerable edge.

In hindsight, Ryan should have rejected the weight stipulations that Gervonta’s management insisted on for this fight because they likely would have caved in and done the match without them.

Assuming Tank chooses to reject that, he’ll need to go in a different direction for his next fight, Devin Haney, Shakur Stevenson, or Isaac Cruz.

That’s a tough road for Gervonta to take by going through those three, as that’s like running the gauntlet. If Tank chooses to face those three, it will age him and wear him down.

“We’re going to bounce back; we’re going to come back at 140, and we’re not going to have any conditions this time. We’re going to do it as it should be,” Henry Garcia told Little Giant Boxing about Ryan Garcia’s future.

“We’re going to come back. The only way Ryan would do something like that [fighting Gevonta Davis again] is if Ryan moved up to 140 and rehydrated to a normal weight. That’s the only way. But right now, we did what we could.”

Right now, the only way Tank Davis will fight Ryan Garcia at 140 without a rehydration clause or catchweight is if his PPV numbers begin plummeting due to his choosing to swerve the opposition that the fans want to see him fight.

The fans want to see Gervonta fight Shakur Stevenson and Devin Haney. If he chooses not to fight those guys, his PPV numbers will drop because boxing fans don’t want to see him fight Rolly again, and that’s probably who will be trotted out by his management as his next opponent.

“We’re going to move on, and we’re just going to prevail,” said Henry about the plans for Kingry’s next fight.
