Ryan Garcia wants Devin Haney after Gervonta Davis

By Adam Baskin: Ryan Garcia has accepted Devin Haney’s offer to face him next after he takes care of Gervonta Davis this Saturday night.

For the Haney-Garcia fight to come off, Haney must win his match next month against Vasily Lomachenko on May 20th, and, of course,  Ryan has got to find a method to defeat the heavy favorite Tank Davis (28-0, 26 KOs) on Saturday, April 22nd in their fight on Showtime PPV at the T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas.

Haney (29-0, 15 KOs), who holds the undisputed lightweight championship, says his fight with Ryan (23-0, 19 KOs) could be at 135 or 140 and without a rehydration clause. Haney says he doesn’t use rehydration clauses for his fights, which shows you the integrity this special fighter has.

The odds of the Haney vs. Kingry Garcia happening are slim right now because Gervonta is expected to decimate the Golden Boy star, but if so, a fight between these two would be massive. However, Ryan’s promoter Oscar De La Hoya, is already talking rematch with Tank Davis if his fighter wins. There’s just too much money at stake in a second and even a third fight between Ryan and Tank for them not to continue with their rivalry.

Devin Haney: “If Ryan was to win, we can possibly get it on at 140. Obviously, the world knows I have trouble making 135. Maybe we can do it at 140 or even 135. No rehydration. I never do rehydration.”

Ryan Garcia: “Thank you, Devin. I’ll take that offer after I handle business [against Gervonta ‘Tank’ Davis on Saturday night].”

On the subject of Tank Davis fight

“It’s a fight that I’ve envisioned for a long time, and it’s the fight that would determine the greatness that I would reach,” Ryan Garcia said to Showtime on his fight with Gervonta on Saturday.

“Every fight was leading up to this moment. Five years ago, I just kind of knew that he was the opponent in front of me that I had to conquer, and now it’s here.

“It’s a special moment, and that’s why I’m locked in because I know these moments don’t come often. I’m really hungry for greatness and hungry to be in a position where I reached it, I got there and I want to get there. I want to conquer this moment,” said Ryan.
