By Charles Brun: A snarling, irate Tyson Fury went into a one-minute, foul-mouthed rant today on social media, letting Oleksandr Usyk know how much he dislikes him over their negotiations collapsing a day earlier.
During his rant, Fury claimed that Usyk (20-0, 13 KOs) still didn’t want to take the fight, even after he agreed to the rematch clause.
What Fury failed to say is that he wanted a 50-50 split for the rematch, even if he were coming into the contest beltless, facing the four-belt undisputed champion Usyk. In that situation, Fury wouldn’t rate a 50-50 split.
Fury would be coming into the fight as the challenger going up against the undisputed champion, so it would be silly for Usyk to give him a 50-50 deal.
Aside from the criticism of Usyk’s physical looks, Fury’s main part of his rant was the rematch deal the unified IBF, WBA & WBO heavyweight champion wanted. According to one-belt champ Fury, Usyk was “begging” by wanting a rematch as part of the deal.
Usyk’s promoter Alex Krassyuk said Fury wanted a 50-50 split on the rematch after they’d already agreed to a 70-30 split for the first fight, which he says would bring his fighter three to four times less money than what he made in his previous fight against Anthony Joshua last August in Saudi Arabia.
The only way it made sense for Usyk to take the smaller split in the first fight with Fury is if that lopsided split were reversed in the rematch, which would see the winner get a 70-30 split. The deal worked both ways, meaning that whichever fighter won the April 29th fight would get the 70-30 split for the rematch.
“Usyk, you proper little s**t bag, bug-eyed, gappy-teethed, ugly little rat,” said Tyson Fury on social media, laying into Oleksandr Usyk over their fight not happening. “You tried all week to get out of it, begging for a rematch like a little girl.
“You got your rematch and didn’t even want to fight at that. You little s**t house. Always know you was never man enough to tangle with the Gypsy King ever in your life.
“You little 14-stone coward. You rat little [blank] and your full team knows it as well, and all the lawyers have the full information. Keep running.
“Fight Dubois for a couple of bucks now, and always know that you and everybody else like you could never tangle with the Gyspy King
