By Dan Ambrose: Erickson ‘The Hammer’ Lubin says he could be fighting a rematch with Sebastian ‘The Towering Inferno’ Fundora later this year or early next year to try and avenge his loss from last April.

The 27-year-old Lubin (24-2, 17 KOs) revealed today that he fought the 6’51/2″ Fundora with an injury and that he wasn’t at his best when he was stopped in the ninth round in their grueling contest in Las Vegas.

Lubin hasn’t fought since that fight, but he says he plans on returning to the ring soon, possibly at a catchweight above 154.

“His last fight. I wasn’t too impressed with his performance against [Carlos] Ocampo, but me and him,  we’re lining something up for later this year or early next year, me and Fundora for a rematch,”  said Erickson Lubin to Fighthype about a rematch with Sebastian Fundora.

“I’m definitely looking forward to that too. I had a shoulder injury. A lot of people might think, ‘His face looks crazy. He’s done or probably a broken orbital bone.’ None of that happened. It was a hairline fracture on my nose.

“I could have sneezed it back in place. I’m tough; I’m built tough. I’m looking forward to a rematch with Fundora. I’ve been asking for that fight again. I’ve been trying to keep that in their ear, so we can make it happen again.

Lubin picks Tony Harrison over Tim Tszyu

“Tony [Harrison], I think for sure he can beat Tim Tszyu. It just depends on what Tony shows up, and how his camp went,” said Lubin. “Towards the later rounds, I’ve seen Tony fade. The ninth round is where he always gets stopped, but I think he’s a solid fighter, a great fighter. I think he can beat Tim Tszyu.

“For sure, I think he can beat Tim Tszyu. Any other way around, I think Tim Tszyu could beat him. It’s possible. Him going to Australia, fighting someone like Tim Tszyu, who is high on himself. Everybody out there is high on him.

“So he’s got to go in there with the right mindset and literally go take that s**t,” said Lubin.

Erickson Lubin wants Errol Spence Jr

“I definitely want to fight someone like Spence. I started my pro career at 147. Spence was the guy coming out of the amateurs at 147. Everybody wanted. Everybody was high on him, and everybody was high on me as well. Everybody always talked about me and him fighting.

“I think it’s a great fight. We’re both southpaws. We’re going to see who the better southpaw is.
