Eddie Hearn doubts Fury vs. Usyk happens on April 29th, expects it to get pushed back

By Scott Gilfoid: Eddie Hearn predicts that the Tyson Fury vs. Oleksandr Usyk fight will need to be pushed back and WON’T be taking place on the April 29th date that had been previously floated for when it would take place at Wembley Stadium in London.

With no fight announcement, the Fury-Usyk may need to be moved off the original April 29 date for one reason or another.

Moving the fight to a later date could improve the chances of staging it in Saudi Arabia, where there’s more money available.

If Fury wants $100+ million smackers for the fight, as Hearn recently mentioned, he sure isn’t going to get that kind of booty in the UK.

Hearn was surprised to learn that IBF, WBA & WBO heavyweight champion Usyk (20-0, 13 KOs) had agreed to the 70-30 had been offered by the hard negotiator Fury (33-0-1, 24 KOs), but that didn’t mean the fight will go ahead with that split.

Usyk’s management said recently that if the April 29th date is moved for the Fury-Usyk clash, they will ask for a different split, possibly moving back to the original 50-50.

With Fury likely already counting the dough in his head for what he would take home from a 70-30 split in his favor, he’ll resist with all his might having it return to the original 50-50 split that Usyk had asked for.

“I’m very surprised [about 70-30 split being agreed on]. I don’t think it will happen on April 29th, but I hope it does. I do think it will happen [eventually]. Good luck to both,” said Eddie Hearn to Fight Hub TV about the Tyson Fury vs. Oleksandr fight, which is tentatively scheduled for April 29th.

The question fans would have is why would the Fury vs. Usyk fight need to be moved off the April 29th date. For these reasons

A. Fury is badly out of shape and will likely need more time to lose weight and build his cardio. He’s carrying too much fat around his midsection to fight in April.

B. More time to promote the fight.

If the fight is pushed back, the negotiation will be hellish for Fury because, as I said, he’s likely already counting the money he would make from a wide 70-30 split.

With that split changing to 50-50, those dreams of Fury banking the extra dough would be suddenly yanked from his head, wrecking his plans of needing a wheelbarrow to haul away the pillage.
