By Adam Baskin: Caleb ‘Sweethands’ Plant believes he’s getting over on David Benavidez by purchasing the domain name DavidBenavidez [dot] com and using it to peddle merchandise to his fans ahead of their headliner on March 25th on Showtime PPV at the MGM Grand Garden Arena in Las Vegas.

According to Plant (22-1, 13 KOs), he’s been selling a lot of merchandise since purchasing the domain in 2018. Apparently, Plant knew even back then that Benavidez (26-0, 23 KOs) would be worth buying a domain with the same name and sitting on it for years until he became popular.

It’s more mindgames than anything because Plant is already a millionaire, and the same applies to 26-year-old Benavidez. Whatever amount of money Plant is making by selling clothing with Benvidez’s name, it’s next to nothing compared to what the two have in their bank accounts.

If Plant seriously thinks he’s sitting on a goldmine by selling clothing, it’s troubling. It’s obviously, Plant playing games and trying upset Benavidez by bragging about selling a lot of merchandise and owning his domain name. It’s silly.

Plant brags about selling Benavidez merchandise

“This is something in the making. I bought that domain back in 2018 because I knew one day we would be fighting. It’s something I’ve kept in my back pocket, and I got other cards in my back pocket as well,” said Caleb Plant to Fighthype about his buying of DavidBenavidez [dot] com back in 2018 because he knew David Benavidez would be a big star one day and he wanted to make money by selling merchandise to the fans.

“Some of it is just showing how much smarter I am than him,” Plant continued. “Some of it is about the marketing and branding of the clothing, and some of it is about owning his digital real estate.

“In this day and age, people are going to have to catch up to the time and to own someone’s real estate,” said Plant. “Some people might not think that’s a big deal, and some people may. It’s working because we’ve been selling a lot of merch. Take it for what it’s worth.

“I can’t speak on how he feels, how he’s acting, and what it’s going to do for him. He’s going to handle his business how he sees fit and I’m going to handle my business how I see fit. Then on March 25th, the bell is going to ring, and we’re going to do our thing,” said Plant.
