Boxing Results: John “Scrappy” Ramirez Defeats Luis Villa Padilla!

By Ken Hissner: At Fantasy Springs Casino, Indio, California Thursday over DAZN Oscar De La Hoya (Golden Boy Promotions) presented in the Main Event NABA Super Flyweight champion John “Scrappy” Ramirez defeated in defending his title over Luis Villa Padilla. In the co-feature bantamweights Manuel “El Meny” Flores of California won a split decision over Franklin “El Abudlo” Gonzalez of Venezuela over 8 rounds.

In the Main Event NABA Super Flyweight champion John “Scrappy” Ramirez, 11-0 (8), #114 ¾, of L.A., CA, defeated Luis Villa Padilla, 15-4-2 (2), #115, of Guadalajara, MEX, over 10 rounds.

In the first three rounds Ramirez pressured Padilla in a slugfest having the edge over Padilla. In the fifth round Ramirez started going to the body the first two minutes of the round before again going to the head.

In the seventh round Ramirez played to the crowd showboating and landing wild punches backing up Padilla. In the eighth round Padilla with hand held high would suddenly land several counterpunches.

In the ninth round Ramirez tried to put Padilla away but the latter hung in there tough. In the tenth and final round Ramirez had the blood flowing from the nose of Padilla a minute into the round. The fans let both of them know how they appreciated the action.

Scores 100-90 twice and 99-91 as did this writer have it. The Referee was Ray Corona.

In the co-feature Super Bantam southpaw Manuel “El Meny” Flores, 15-0 (11), #119 ½, of Coachella, CA, scored a split decision win over Franklin “El Abuelo” Gonzalez, 25-1 (25), #120, of Los Teques, VZ, over 8 rounds scoring a knockdown.

Gonzalez returning after his first loss a year ago and Flores with a six fight stoppage streak. In the first round almost a minute gone when Gonzalez landed a pair of rights on the chin of Flores. Inside the final minute Flores landed a lead right on the chin of Gonzalez.

In the third round Gonzalez was landing quite a few rights on the chin of Flores.

In the fourth round Gonzalez rocked Flores with a right on the chin knocking him back several steps. In the final minute it was Flores rocking Gonzalez knocking his mouthpiece out with a left on the chin.

In the fifth rounds final minute Flores landed a right hook the chin of Gonzalez dropping him to a knee for an 8-count from Referee Ray Armendariz.

In the sixth round Flores landed a right hook causing a cut on the left eyebrow of Gonzalez in the final minute. In the seventh round it went back and forth who was scoring in a close round with blood flowing down the left side of the face of Gonzalez while a clash of heads caused a cut on the right eyebrow of Gonzalez.

In the eighth and final round a clash of heads in the final minute caused a small cut on the left eyebrow of Flores as both let it all hang out.

Scores were 76-75 Gonzalez and 77-74 Flores twice as did this writer have it.

Minimum Lorraine Villalobos, 5-5 (2), #103, of L.A., CA, lost a split decision to Kat Lindenmuth, 3-1 (0), #102¼, of Albuquerque, NM, over 6×2 rounds.

In the first round Lindenmuth went on the attack driving Villalobos around the ring out working her. In the second round Villalobos in the final minute was pushed by Lindenmuth to the canvas. In the final ten seconds Lindenmuth was landing a flurry of punches to the bell.

In the fourth round Lindenmuth landed an overhand right to the chin at the midway point on the chin of Villalobos. In the fifth round Villalobos was holding her own for the first minute before Lindenmuth took over again. In the sixth and final round it was Villalobos having her way in the best round of the fight. The Referee was Ray Corona.

Scores were 58-56 for each and a 59-55 for Lindenmuth and 58-56 for Lindenmuth by this writer.

Bantamweight Stefanie Cohen, 3-1-1 (1), #116½, of VZ and Miami, FL, defeated Leanne Calderon, 1-3-1 (0), #117¼, of Austin, TX, over 4×2 rounds with a knockdown being the difference.

In the second round a right from Cohen on the chin of Calderon and down she touched both gloves on the canvas for an 8-count from Referee Ray Corona halfway through the round.

In the third, Calderon chased Cohen all over the ring with both throwing bombs and Calderon having an edge. In the fourth and final round Calderon drew blood from the nose of Cohen halfway through the round.

Scores were all 38-37 as was this writers.

Heavyweight southpaw Zachary Spiller, 3-0 (2), #265½, of Houston, TX, defeated southpaw Kaleel Carter, 3-4 (3), #227, of Bellflower, CA, over 4 rounds.

In the first three rounds the taller Spiller for the most part out worked Carter. His first two fights were in Mexico where Carter also fought going 1-1. In the fourth and final round halfway point a Carter jab snapped the head of Spiller back. Just inside the final minute a Carter right hook on the chin rocked Spiller. The Referee was Ray Armendariz.

Scores were all 39-37 as was this writers.

18 year-old Super Welter Grant Flores, Jr., 1-0 (1), #149¾, of Coachella, CA, stopped Jorge Lopez, 0-2 (0), #151, of Queretaro, MEX, at 2:35 of the first round of a scheduled 4 rounds.

Fifteen seconds into the first round, a combination from Flores on the chin of Lopez and down he went for an 8-count from Referee Ray Armendariz. Lopez managed to come back enough to make a fight of it until Flores landed a right and left drawing blood from the nose of Lopez knocking driving him into the ropes following with a three punch combination forcing referee Armendariz to call a halt.
