Joe Joyce says he’s next for Tyson Fury after Usyk fight in 2023

By Charles Brun: Joe Joyce is confident that he’ll be fighting for a world title against the winner of the March undisputed heavyweight fight between WBC champion Tyson Fury and IBF/WBA/WBO champ Oleksandr Usyk.

Fury (33-0-1, 24 KOs) has already told Joyce (15-0, 14 KOs) that he’ll fight him, but we’ll soon see if the ‘Gypsy King’ was serious if he’s the last man standing after his undisputed clash with Usyk in March.

The 34-year Fury is tailor-made for Joyce with the way he fights at this stage of his career, and this could be a similar wipeout victory for ‘The Juggernaut’ as the one he produced against two-time Olympian Bakhodir Jalolov.

Before Joyce fought Jalalov, everyone talked about how great the Uzbek was, but Joe destroyed him. At this stage in Fury’s career, he’s not as good as Jalaov was when Joyce obliterated him in 2016, and this could be a very easy fight for the ‘Juggernaut’ next year when he meets up against the easy-to-hit Tyson.

Joyce hopes Fury keeps his word

“I hope Fury is a man of his word and fights me next. Beat up Usyk and then fight me next,” said Joe Joyce to Secondsout about his hopes Tyson Fury wasn’t playing around when he said that he wanted to defend his WBC belt against him in 2023.

Well, it wouldn’t surprise this writer if Fury vacates the WBO belt to swerve Joyce next year if he successfully defeats Usyk to become the undisputed champion in early 2023.

With how Fury seems to be focused on money fights, he’ll wake up and smell the coffee, knowing that Joyce could wreck his ability to bring in the green.

Instead, it’s predictable that Fury will avoid Joyce and look to either face Anthony Joshua in a mega-fight or battle former WBC champion Deontay Wilder in a fourth clash, which would also make a boatload of money for the Gyspy King.

“Yeah, I believe so because I think that’s next to be ordered or whatever happens; I’m going to get to the top of the division and be heavyweight champion,” Joyce said when asked if he’s been told by Fury’s promoters at Queensbury that he’s next after his undisputed championship fight against Oleksandr Usyk.

It will be excellent if Fury does take the fight with Joyce, as it would be a tremendous one for UK boxing fans. As I said, Fury is made to order for Joyce, and he will get blown out of the water as Jalalov did.
