Chisora beats Wilder says Hearn

By Craig Daly: Eddie Hearn is convinced that Derek Chisora has the goods to defeat former WBC heavyweight champion Deontay Wilder. Hearn wants to make that fight next, if possible.

Hearn’s twisted logic for his belief that Chisora can defeat Wilder is that the ‘Bronze Bomber’ is fighting Robert Helenius next. Chisora lost a questionable 12-round split decision against Helenius eleven years ago in 2011.

At the time, Helenius was injured and basically fighting with one arm against Chisora. Hearn feels that because Chisora arguably beat an injured Helenius in 2011 and recently beat 41-year-old Kubrat Pulev, it means he’ll defeat Wilder.

Hearn leaves out the fact that Pulev is totally shot at this point in his career and nowhere near the fighter he’d been 10+ years ago when he was in his prime.

“He’s here [in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia,” said Eddie Hearn to Fight Hub TV about Derek Chisora. “I spent a nice little 20 minutes in the steam with him today, talking about life, which is always good fun.

“He’s ready to try and land that big fight, whoever that may be. He wants to fight Wilder. I still like [Chris Arreola]. If the deal was right and he wanted to fight Deontay Wilder, it doesn’t matter what I would do or not. He can do without me.

“But he can beat Deontay Wilder, but he could also get sensationally knocked out, and he’d be the underdog going into that fight. He wants a big fight. He just beat [41-year-old] Kubrat Pulev, who is a top 15 heavyweight.

Look, I’ll give you an example. Deontay Wilder is going to fight Robert Helenius. Derek Chisora beat [an injured] Robert Helenius with ease [in 2011].

“He didn’t get the decision. Watch the fight. So, therefore, why shouldn’t he [Chisora] fight Wilder if Helenius is? It doesn’t matter. I don’t think he will anyway.

“He just beat Pulev. I do [think Chisora can beat Deontay Wilder]. I think he’s a big underdog in the fight, and I also think he may get knocked out in the fight.

“If he gets past five or six rounds against Wilder, he’s bang in that fight. He may not get past five or six rounds against Deontay Wilder, but you’re missing my point.

“Deontay Wilder is fighting Robert Helenius. Robert Helenius got beat by Derek Chisora. Derek Chisora just beat Kubrat Pulev,” said Hearn.
