By Jack Tiernan: Canelo Alvarez says he wants to show the fans how he can come back from his loss to Dmitry Bivol when he faces Gennadiy Golovkin in their trilogy fight on September 17th on DAZN pay-per-view.

Many boxing fans now feel that the former four-division world champion Canelo Alvarez (57-2-2, 39 KOs) is washed up, and ready to be put out to pasture after the way he was thoroughly outboxed by WBA 175-lb champion Bivol (20-0, 11 KOs) last month on May 7th.

For Canelo to show everybody that he’s still the great fighter that they’ve known him to be, he’ll need a dominating performance against Golovkin on September 17th when the two stars meet at the T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas, Nevada.

Canelo wants to take aggression out Golovkin in this fight because he can’t face Bivol in an immediate rematch. According to Canelo’s promoter Eddie Hearn, he had to take the fight with Golovkin, and he’ll face Bivol later, possibly next May.

I just want to be in the ring and show everybody my comeback,” said Canelo Alvarez to DAZN Boxing Show. “When you’re looking for greatness, you will find hard ways. I’m in that way, that position right now. No matter what, I’m going to accomplish what I want.

“From the second fight, and he started saying all these things about me, that I was a cheater and an embarrassment, that I was dishonest It’s all bull s***,” said Canelo to Fight Hub TV in explaining why he’s angry with Golovkin.

“I don’t know why, but that’s why it’s so personal. Plus, I don’t like people that say one thing and pretend and say another thing, talking respect. I respect what he’s done in his career, but that’s why I’m bothered about all this,” Canelo said about Golovkin.

“They are always going to say that if I win or if I lose,” said Canelo when told that this is a ‘high risk, low reward fight’ and that he’s supposed to win against Golovkin.

“I don’t give those critics satisfaction because those people are never happy with anything.

“It would be one of my biggest without a doubt,” said Canelo when asked where he’ll rank a victory over Golovkin if he successfully defeats him on September 17th. “He’s a great fighter, one of the best boxing has had in history.

“As always, if you want something, you got to risk. I know I’ll be at risk trying to get the KO, but I don’t care.

“It’s the same. When I was at 154, I fought at 160. That was my first time at 160, so now it’s the same for him,” said Canelo about Golovkin needing to come up to 168 to face him at a higher weight

“There are no disadvantages for him moving up. I didn’t feel any when I moved up,” said Canelo.
