By Brian Webber: George Kambosos Jr. wants Devin Haney to stop this charade about how he supposedly “forced” him to take this fight with him.

Unified lightweight champion Kambosos Jr. (20-0, 10 KOs) wants WBC belt holder Haney (27-0, 15 KOs) to come down to planet earth and realize that “you were chosen” for this fight.

Kambosos says he could have literally picked a warehouse worker from nearby his gym and still sold out the Marvel Stadium in Melbourne, Australia, on the night.

In other words, Haney is basically the designated prop for Kambosos Jr to show off his skills in front of his adoring Australian fans on June 5th at the 56,000-seat Marvel Stadium in Melbourne.

Kambosos originally was supposed to defend his four lightweight titles against the highly accomplished Vasyl Lomachenko, but he couldn’t take the fight after the war broke out in his country.

That was the fight that Kambosos wanted because he has a great deal of respect for what Lomachenko has done during his amateur & professional career.

“Everything is great, and I’m just so focused and zoned in,” said George Kambosos Jr. to Fight Hub TV. “I had a hell of a session that morning, great game planning.

“I’m firing on every cylinder. I’m not a V8 cylinder like I was for [Teofimo] Lopez. I‘m a V10, so I feel great. June 5th, bring it on. I wish it was today.

“I’ve got a beautiful gym that I’ve put together. It’s great to be home because they get to see how I prepare for a big fight. They get to be amongst it, and learn like I did with Pacquiao.

“The media, I saw this already with Manny. I know how to deal with it and how to get around it. That’s why it’s good to be home; it’s great to be home,” said Kambosos.

It much be great for Kambosos Jr. to have learned from his time with Manny Pacquiao how to deal with the fans, media, and the pressure from a big fight.

“I really could have fought anybody. Haney’s not my mandatory,” said Kambosos. “When he talks, ‘I was forcing this.’ How was he forcing it? You’re not my mandatory. I could have said, ‘No, I’m fighting Joe Blow that works next door at the warehouse here’ if I wanted to and sold it out.

You were chosen. Be here on June 5th. I want to continue beating the best. That’s what excites me and motivates me. That’s what gets me out of bed,” said Kambosos.
