By Barry Holbrook: The highly anticipated fight between WBC heavyweight champion Tyson Fury and mandatory challenger Dillian Whyte will be going for £24.95 on BT Sport UK PPV on April 23rd in front of a sellout crowd at the Wembley Stadium in London, England.

There’s a massive amount of interest in the Fury-Whyte fight, which will see Fury return to the UK for his first fight on the shores since his August 2018 contest against Francesco Pianeta in Belfast, Northern Ireland.

Whyte has complained for years about wanting a world title shot, and now that he’s finally gotten his wish, he’s missed out on the beginning stages of the promotion for the massive event.

It’s a missed opportunity on Whyte’s part, as rather than selling himself to boxing fans worldwide that aren’t familiar with him, he’s not taken advantage of the opportunity presented to him.

Despite Whyte (28-2, 19 KOs) not showing up for the press conference launch last month, the Fury-Whyte fight will be going ahead as scheduled on April 23rd.

Promoter Frank Warren expects Whyte to take part in the promotion of the fight in the remaining press conferences and during fight week.

According to Frank, Whyte is in breach of contract, and he’s counting on doing his job to assist with the promotion of the event from this moment on.

“No, he’s contracted to do things and he’s in breach at the moment and I hope he’s going to rectify those breaches and do what he should do, which is to help promote the fight which he’s contracted to do,” said promoter Frank Warren to Secondsout when asked if Dillian Whyte won’t appear until the weigh-in for his title fight against Tyson Fury.

“Well, I would hope that he would be doing things with BT and ESPN for promoting the pay-per-view, as he’s contracted to do,” said Frank.

“Nobody likes that situation, but he’s not fighting and I know with Tyson, there’s been a few problems with sparring partners, he’s had to bring people in and focus on that fight,” said Warren about Fury using Jarrell Miller as one of his sparring partners.

“He’s a sparring partner, that’s what he’s using him for, employing him for, as a sparring partner. He’s not a licensed boxer nor will he be fighting on the card.

“If that’s what he wants to do, I’ll support him wholeheartedly,” said Warren when asked about Fury’s comment about him possibly retiring after his fight with Dillian on April 23rd.

“I’m glad he knows what his position is,” said Warren in reacting to Matchroom Boxing promoter Eddie Hearn saying he might carry Whyte’s spit bucket to gain admission to the Fury-Whyte fight.

“He can buy a ticket, of course, he can come, why not? No one has barred him from the show. I don’t know why he makes stupid remarks like that. Who knows? Who cares at the end of the day?

“One thing for sure, the fight will go ahead without him there. We don’t depend on him to make it go ahead,” Frank said about the Fury vs. Whyte event not needing Hearn for it to take place on April 23.
