Boxing Results: Jamaine “The Technician” Ortiz Defeats Nahir Albright in Orlando Friday!

By Ken Hissner: Marshall Kauffman’s King’s Promotions brought in quite a few prospects Friday on ShoBox: The Next Generation at the Caribe Royale, in Orlando, Florida.

In the Main Event unbeaten Jamaine “The Technician” Ortiz defeated Nahir “Woo” Albright over 10 rounds. In the co-feature Paul “The Punisher” Kroll was fortunate to get a draw against Marquis Taylor over 8 rounds.

In the Main Event Jamaine ”The Technician” Ortiz, 15-0-1 (8), #134¼, of Worcester, MASS, defeated Nahir “Woo” Albright, 14-2 (7), #134, of Sicklerville, NJ, for the vacant NABF lightweight title over 10 rounds.

In the first round, Albright controlled the entire round with his jab. In the second and third rounds, it was Ortiz chasing Albright working the body and head with a jab followed by rights.

In the fourth and fifth rounds, Albright continued not to use his jab enough while Ortiz continues out landing him.

In the sixth round, it was Ortiz moving around the ring with hands to his side landing little. Albright finally outscored him taking the round. In the seventh round, it was close with each having their moments.

In the eighth round, Ortiz finally stood in front of Albright completely beating him not moving and doing little as in the previous round. Albright doesn’t seem to release his punches enough.

In the ninth round, it was close with Albright out landing Ortiz who fights in spurts. In the tenth and final round, Ortiz picked Albright apart giving him a boxing lesson.

Scores were Gary 98-92, Levin and Ware 97-93 with this writer 97-93. The referee was Frank Santore, Jr.

Welterweight Miy Sean “Untouchable” Mason, 7-0 (5), of Altamonte Springs, FL, stopped Rondale Hubbert, 14-21-3 (8), of Duluth, MN, at 1:08 in the second round of a scheduled 8.

In the co-feature Super Welterweight Paul “The Punisher” Kroll, 9-0-1 (6), #152 ½, of Philadelphia, PA, seemed fortunate it ended in a split draw with “Marvelous” Marquis Taylor, 12-1-2 (1), #151 ¾, of Galena Park, TX, over 8 rounds.

In the first round too much holding with Referee Massimo Montanini too slow to break them up. Kroll lands lead overhand rights to the chin while Taylor shows a lot of movement and holding though much taller. In the second and third rounds Kroll out lands Taylor for the most part by countering well.

In the fourth round’s first minute Taylor landed his best punch so far a long lead right on the chin of Kroll. In the final minute, Kroll landed a solid left hook to the chin making Taylor grab him into a clinch.

In the fifth round, Taylor had Kroll against the ropes starting with a left hook to the neck for the first two minutes of the round. He did good bodywork as Kroll has slowed down.

In the sixth round at the halfway mark, Taylor rocked Kroll with a left hook on the chin. In the seventh round, Taylor continues to outwork Kroll who except for one good right on the chin did little. In the eighth and final round, Kroll tried to pull it out and may have gotten the round but not the fight.

Scores were 77-75 Kroll by Wilgo, 80-72 Taylor by Ware, and 76-76 draw by Levin. This writer had it 78-74 Taylor.

Super Welterweight Derrick “Diesel” Jackson, 7-0 (3), of Orlando, FL, defeated Christopher “SOLO” Hatley, 4-3 (0), of Little Rock, ARK, over 6 rounds.

Scores were 58-56 and 60-54 twice.

Heavyweight Norman Neely, 11-0 (8), of Paterson, NJ, defeated Rodney Moore, 20-21-2 (9), of Houston, TX, over 6 rounds.

All scores were 60-53

The opener features Featherweight Jeremy “Majic Hands” Adorno, 6-0 (2), of PR and Allentown, PA, stopped Trayvion Butts, 4-3 (3), of Dry Branch, GA, in the first round of a scheduled 4 rounds.
