Tyson Fury fires back at Dereck Chisora for picking Joshua to beat him

By Jack Tiernan: A perturbed-looking Tyson Fury fired back at Dereck ‘War’ Chisora on Friday in reaction to him picking Anthony Joshua to “Blast him out” when the time comes for the two to fight in 2022 or later.

Chisora’s prediction of a victory for the former IBF/WBA/WBO heavyweight champion Joshua (24-2, 22 KOs) over WBC belt holder Fury was made matter-of-factly, without any real intent on ruffling the feathers of the thin-skinned ‘Gypsy King.’

Dereck was ‘telling it like it is’ with his prediction of a future Joshua knockout victory over Fury.

Chisora has no dog in this hunt and sounds like he doesn’t care who wins, but he still feels that Joshua will overpowerful Fury in their fight as long as he doesn’t make the mistake of starting slowly as he did against Oleksandr Usyk last September.

Fury needs to forget about Joshua for a second and focus instead on what he will do with his WBC mandatory challenger Dillian Whyte. The World Boxing Council has already ordered the Fury vs. Whyte fight.

Fury and his promoters at Top Rank need to decide if they’re going to follow the WBC’s order or bin the belt and go with his Ring Magazine & lineal heavyweight titles to defend against Andy Ruiz Jr. or Robert Helenius next on March 26th.

Fury says Joshua will NEVER blast him out

“This is a message for Dereck Chisora. I just saw your message where you said you think AJ will blast me out. Never in a million years,” said Tyson Fury on Twitter on Friday in reacting to ‘War’Chisora predicting Joshua would be too powerful for Fury.

“If the biggest puncher in history [Deontay Wilder] couldn’t blast me out and if Wladimir Klitschko couldn’t blast me out, a big old bodybuilder couldn’t blast me out, my friend,” said Fury.

Joshua can knock out Fury, especially now after the punishment he absorbed in his last fight against Deontay Wilder last October.

Chisora’s prediction on Joshua stopping Fury

“I’ll go with AJ. AJ’s power punch is unbelievable. If AJ fights Fury, he has to go on him straight away, blast him out. He can’t box him. If he boxes with him, he loses,” said Chisora to Talksport, picking Joshua to beat Fury.

Wilder knocked Fury down TWICE in the fourth and had him down for approximately eleven seconds in the second time he dropped him. Many boxing fans believe Fury was given a long count, which enabled him to get up in time without the fight being halted.

If Joshua drops Fury the way Wilder did, he’ll finish the job if he makes it back up. We don’t know whether Fury’s punch resistance was permanently affected by the pounding that he took at the hands of the ‘Bronze Bomber’ Wilder (42-1-1, 41 KOs) on October 9th.

We see it all the time with fighters. They take a terrible beating, and their ability to take a punch is never the same afterward.  Will that be Fury’s fate? It could be.

If Fury’s punch resistance has disappeared since his trilogy match with the 6’7″ Deontay, it could be over with for him. He won’t make it past Joshua. Heck, Fury might not get through the Whyte, Andy Ruiz Jr., or Robert Helenius fight.

Whoever Fury faces next, they’re going to be testing his chin repeatedly with big power shots, and if he’s not the same old steel-chinned ‘Gypsy King’ of the past, he’ll take a nosedive on the canvas once he starts eating power shots from his next foe.

Joshua won’t fight Usyk again, says Fury

“So, Del [Chisora]. He [Joshua] ain’t got the bottle to fight Usyk again. Usyk will smash him next time properly,”  said Fury in predicting AJ will skip out on the April rematch with Oleksandr.

“He might beat him on points or knock him out, but there’s only ever been one man like me on these shores, and he’s called ‘The Gypsy King’ AKA Tyson Fury,” said Fury.

Joshua WILL likely take the rematch with Usyk because that’s all he talks about night & day. Joshua wants to try and avenge the loss to Usyk from last September, even if it costs him his career.

Chisora predicts a win for Joshua over Usyk

“I think AJ wins second time round. I asked him what he’s going to do, he said, ‘You’ll see,” said Chisora about him picking Joshua to win his rematch with Usyk.

Joshua may win his rematch with Usyk, as long as he targets his body and doesn’t make the mistake of attempting to box him like last time.

Joshua will need to start fast and not lose his nerve after getting stung by Usyk’s pinpoint left hands.

Usyk looked like he took the fight out of Joshua in the second round after catching him with a hard left to the head, resulting in AJ becoming gunshy for the remainder of the bout.
