Ryan Garcia blasts Pitbull Cruz, calling him “Chihuahua” after he rejects offer

By Sean Jones: Ryan Garcia came out of the woodwork to kick dirt on his would-be opponent Isaac ‘Pitbull’ Cruz after his team rejected an offer to fight him in April. Ryan, 23, lashed out at Cruz on social media, saying he’s more like a “chihuahua” than a Pitbull.

With that comment by Ryan, he’s trying to make it appear that Isaac Cruz lost his nerve and was too scared to fight him.

That’s not believable, particularly with Pitbull coming off a fight with Gervonta ‘Tank’ Davis last month on December 5th. Cruz (22-2-1, 15 KOs) fought well enough against Tank Davis to deserve the victory if not a draw.

This comes after King Ry’s promoter Oscar De La Hoya unleashed the dogs of war on Pitbull by revealing on Twitter today that he’d turned down a “lucrative” fight offer that amounted to more money than he’d been paid for his recent fight against Gervonta ‘Tank’ Davis.

De La Hoya is blaming Isaac Cruz, making it seem like he’s scared to take the fight, it sounds disingenuous.

Sean Jones saw this move coming a mile away from Golden Boy Promotions, as it doesn’t seem like they were ever serious about wanting to set up a fight between Ryan Garcia (21-0, 18 KOs) and Pitbull Cruz (22-2-1, 15 KOs).

Weeks ago, Mayweather Promotions CEO Leonard Ellerbe said Golden Boy wasn’t going to let Ryan Garcia fight Isaac Cruz, especially with him coming off a yearlong layoff and wrist surgery.

This is what Leonard Ellerbe said about Golden Boy NOT letting Ryan Garcia fight Isaac Cruz last month on December 22nd:

All bulls**t, it sounds good though, so let me get this straight he’s supposedly coming off a hand injury, and they [Golden Boy Promotions] ‘trying’ to make a Cruz fight. Yeah, ok👌🏾,” said Leonard Ellerbe said on @LEllerbe.

De La Hoya says they were trying to make the fight with Isaac Cruz, but I don’t believe that for a second. Pitbull Cruz would be all wrong for Ryan, who he labeled recently as Instagram-focused.

In other words, Pitbull feels that Ryan Garcia is using boxing. His real thing is posting videos and doing his Instagram stuff. Ryan has 8.8 million subscribers to his Instagram site.

What made it impossible to believe that Golden Boy would allow Ryan to fight Cruz is the following reason:

  • Isaac’s performance against Tank
  • Pulled out of 2 fights in 2021
  • Only one fight in 2021
  • hand injury
  • Long layoff
  • Inexperience

Isaac recently said to Boxeo Mundial, “I’ll go to his patio to fight him no problem.”

Shortly after this, Ryan posted a video on YouTube, reacting to what Pitbull Cruz had said about him.

That was the video in which Ryan labeled Cruz as a “C-class fighter”, saying that he’s too small for the 135-lb division, even though he fought well enough to deserve a victory over Gervonta Davis.

I guess Ryan felt he had to say something after Isaac Cruz said he’d fight him in his patio, but what he said made no sense.

Sean Jones NEVER believed for a second the Garcia-Cruz fight was going to happen after the performed Pitbull Cruz turned in against Gervonta Davis on December 5th. You could understand why.

Golden Boy’s top brass would be CRAZY to let their #1 money-maker Ryan Garcia take on a killer like Isaac Cruz after his showing against Tank Davis.

Against a stand-up fighter like Ryan, who is stork-like with his stance, Pitbull Cruz would quickly work his way to the inside and batter King Ry’s midsection.

The vicious body shots that Cruz would be hitting Ryan with would result in him melting quickly just like we saw with Tank, who fell apart from the body attack from Pitbull.

Isaac Cruz is tough, and one of those Mexican fighters that have been through it all in his home country. Cruz hasn’t been coddled during his life in Mexico.

Watch the triple and quad-triple hooks that Isaac Cruz hit Tank Davis and Francisco Vargas with. Ryan couldn’t take those kinds of shots from Isaac Cruz without dropping for the ten count.

Now, De La Hoya posted today that Isaac Cruz rejected the fight offer, which fans aren’t buying.

Pitbull Cruz’s promoter Sean Gibbons quickly responded to De La Hoya’s post by saying that he’s “putting out a falsehood” just to make Ryan think that he’s working hard for him as a promoter.

Last December, Golden Boy Promotions president Eric Gomez was asked what the plan was for Ryan Garcia in 2022, and he said “Comeback fight. He’s been out over a year, and he actually wants to fight Isaac Cruz.

“No, I don’t think [so]. I’d rather do a softer fighter,” said Gomez when asked if it’s a good idea for Golden Boy to let Ryan Garcia fight Pitbull Cruz coming off a broken hand.

For Golden Boy president Eric Gomez saying last December that he didn’t like the idea of Ryan fighting Pitbull Cruz, you can see immediately that he didn’t want to make this match-up.

Gomez’s comment about Ryan being “out for over a year” is another hint that he’s not in favor of letting him fight Isaac Cruz.

Chris Mannix said that Ryan wanted the fight, but Golden Boy was against it.

It’s obvious that Ryan Garcia’s team wants to protect him because he’s coming off a long layoff, hand surgery and he was dropped in his previous fight a year ago by a non-puncher in Luke Campbell.

Isaac Cruz looked like a demon with the way he wore down Tank Davis, forcing him to give ground and flee in the championship rounds. Davis was standing up to Cruz in the early going, but he couldn’t stand the pressure.

It was water wearing down a stone with the way Pitbull wore Tank Davis down, causing him to hoist up the white flag of surrender and flee the battlefield.
