By Huck Allen: Wednesday’s final conference between lightweight champion Teofimo Lopez and George Kambosos Jr. ended in madness with both fighters shouting over each other and coming close to throwing blows.
What started out in a civil manner between IBF/WBA/WBO lightweight champion Teofimo (16-0, 12 KOs) and Kambosos (19-0, 10 KOs) quickly descended into an angry shouting match, making it difficult to watch.

Teofimo, 24, will be making his long-awaited title defense of his WBA, WBC Franchise & WBO lightweight titles he captured 13 months ago against Vasily Lomachenko in October 2020.
Here are some of the quotes from today’s Teofimo vs. Kambosos press conference:
Kambosos: “I’m ready to take everything he’s got in New York City,” said Kambosos during the final press conference on Wednesday. “Let’s see what he does after the first round when I’m still standing there. He says he’s hungry but he’s lying. We’re ready for war.”
Teofimo: “He can be hungry, but there’s a difference between hungry and starving. I’m starving,” said Teofimo. “I’m a lion and I’m ready to tear this guy up.”
Lopez Sr: “These guys overwork their a*** because they know they’re going to fight somebody dangerous in my son and that’s the big mistake they make,” said Teofimo Sr. “When he goes in the ring and gets the devastating knockout of the year and I’m saying it here and I’m never wrong,
“Come November 27th, this body [Kambosos] is going to be running, and that’s the only thing that’s going to save him from the first round because he’s going to go right after him. Nobody can beat my son. Our style is untouchable.
“These people are going to be forgotten,” said Teofimo Sr. to Kambosos.
Kambosos: “Little Chihuahua. You’re a clown. I can’t wait. Since June 19th, I’ve been waiting.
Lopez Sr: “I’m not going to talk no more. I can’t wait until Saturday. I know what my son is going to do to you. I see it every day in the gym.”
Kambosos: “You don’t see what we do every day in the gym.”
Lopez Sr: “You got no pop, bro.”
Teofimo Jr: “This is his biggest fight to date, but I do what I do. Get out of there. I’m going to humble this dude. These right here [belts] are staying.”
This should be a great fight for as long as it lasts, and it’s difficult to predict a winner of this match. Kambosos is very confident and fighting at a high level right now.
He’s definitely got Teofimo rattled with his confidence, and he doesn’t seem to be handling facing someone that isn’t bowing down to him.
